Dont also cover the weakness and poor placement techniques of antennas and dont associate it to EM (Electromagnetic) waves causing tumors, Do you know how many millions of cycles of waves passs through your skull in a second even if you dont carry a phone in coverage cells of this world. Take an old nokia/motorolla phone keep it on floor lay upside down on it take 20 blankets on you and dial the number **** i have done Avionics Engineering from Kingston University so its nothing wrong with the phone its the size of antenna they reduced it and apple went for a folded dipole antenna i wont go in a wavelength proportionality theory but simply as i said its like you carry a .45 caliber Stainless crafted Colt Pistol with a plastic barrel sorry if my words hurt your true love with apple. but it has really got nothing special to talk about.... Close this chapter and wait for a real smart phone from apple.

"without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily."
Thats why they weren't doing multitasking before.
And we didn't want that feature before.
It's on Apple site, not because it couldn't before, just now they can do this feature better in iOS4 now.
And Now i would like it, so its there.

Apple A4 Processor
Apple engineers designed the A4 chip to be a remarkably powerful yet remarkably power-efficient mobile processor.
Also says
*perform complex jobs such as multitasking
Stop saying it can't do Mulittasking guys.
It's Apple choice if the App is important enough to run mulitasked or not.Must the ones that don't i don't need them to do so.GPS i do, so it does.
I Didn't say anything about Samsung anywhere.
Anonymous, 25 Jul 2010very nice ram and processor U bet dude, the A4 CPU has Samsung running scared and Nokia as well.
Steve did an interesting article on its features in the Apple insider, its like a desktop PC in your palm so
advanced. The Graphics chip is like amazing.Ability to
Run HD video processioning in 720p recording!
very nice ram and processor

cruise, 23 Jul 2010Well I hope that the case will be free if I do purchase an Iphone 4. I guess if there is a maj... moreActually you get a loss in signal if you hold the iPhone 4 in your right or left hand. I am right handed and frequently loose my signal and have had several dropped calls with or without the bumper on my iPhone 4. I am in the UK and an o2 customer so the problems are not soley restricted to US customers on the AT&T network.
It really is a pain and ruins a fantastic, well built and innovative product. It’s a real shame and demonstrates that Apple’s direction has clearly made a shift to asthetic design over user functionality and quality assurance testing.
I still love Apple products but I am sorry to say that I will now be more scheptical about purchasing another Apple product in the future. The bumper solution was a nice (& costly) gesture by Apple but masks the true problem in the design. This could have been a real innovation in mobile phone technology and allay safety concerns over mobile phone signals causing health problems such as tumour.
It would have been better for Apple to have been more candid in their acknowledgement of this, and informed customers how they intended to rectify the problem. A product recall may not be even necessary if they come up with a solution to insulating the antenna that could have been applied to the phone by the user, or at an apple store, or included in their next batch of bumpers. (Please see this webpage which explains why the problem exsists and how Apple could rectify it:
http://www.iphone4jailbreak.org/iphone-4-signal-bar-not-correct.html
From my experience the bumpers still does not insulate the antenna to a sufficent degree to prevent a loss of signal and indeed drops in calls persist when the phone is "incorrectly" handled. To simply imply that users are not gripping the phone correctly is actually quite insulting & unhelpful as the size of the product warrants users to grip the phone in a variety of ways when they hold the phone when making calls. It would seem that Apple now wants us to redefine how we use our hands to fit how we use their product!!! Not one of Apple's & AT&T's better PR statements I think!
It goes without saying that dropped calls may be due to other factors outside the control of Apple such as network provider issues, however the placing of the antenna and it’s lack of insulation during normal usage does not help.
In saying all the above, I wont be returning my handset for the following reasons:
1) The screen beats all competitors on the market at the moment. Content looks clear, bright and pleasing on the eye. Web pages are no longer a strain on they eye and pictures look vivid and life like and are in greater detail.
2) It's an iPhone and the ease of use is second to none.
3) The camera takes great pics and the flash is very bright. Low light pictures can be produced with ease.
4) Wifi is never a problem.
5) Web pages always open when not on wifi and on the move.
6) The Facetime facility is a + over the 3gs
7) The product has a sturdy and well built feel to it.It is true what others have stated here on this forum once you hold the device you won't want to put it down.
8) The glass front and backs are better constructed & thicker than the 3G & 3GS models which were prone to crack and break quite easily (believe me I say this from painful and costly experience - my 3G front screen broke twice in the space of a month - once in my pocket and another time when I inadvertently dropped it costing me nearly £200.00 to have them replaced as they are not covered under warranty or insurrance)
9) Wifi is b/g/n compatible which enables one to access wifi with a greater distance from a router
10) The device is faster than it predicessors with a faster processor.
11) It has a faster and far superior graphics processor and than it's previous models and in comparision to other smart phones on the market, making it better for gaming & video.
12) The 512mb of internal memory is more than sufficient for IOS4 and leads to faster multitasking.
13) The new design took some time to grow on me (I liked the original design it stood out from other phones on the market) This new look resembles many other phones on the market.
14) The possible long term safety benefits of having an antenna being on the outside of the phone not exposing the brain to the potential harmful radiation that can be ommitted by mobile phone signals
To conclude - Yes according to Apple possibly over 70,000+ handsets have either been returned or users have made complaints about the reception out of the 3 million sold to date & orders for the new phone far exceeds supply. In my opinion 70,000+ in such a short space of time no matter what the Apple and their fanboys on this and other forums tell you indicates a problem. If this is to be correct there must be at the least some problem with their quality control division but is more likely due to design coupled with network problems.
I have read various comments on this forum that many iPhone 4 users have not experienced problems with this handset. I also took the time to listen to the latest press conference by Apple where the CEO commented on the thousands of emails he has received from satified customers. If this is the case then the 70,000+ handsets and complaints received about this antenna problem further illustrates that there may be a problem with Apple's quality control procedures and Department and this should be swiftly rectified before the company receive further embarassment and negative press over the issue.
I do believe that a lack of sufficient quality controls is to be partly to blame for this debacle as my current iPhone 4 handset is my second (my first handset that I obtained on the product release date had a faulty mic and reciprients of calls could not hear me speak. That iPhone 4 was returned within 2 days of purchase & Apple customer services changed it immediately). All said I again HIGHLY recommend this phone as I believe there has been such a high level of media and user bad publicity Apple are now duty bound to rectify this MINOR design flaw which has caused MAJOR problems for end users especially as the problem could be rectified without a full product recall.
Finnally to all the so called Apple "Fan boys & girls" out there who continue to say that there is not a problem with this phone, please stop doing this. In the long run this only serves to fuel more anti Apple bad feelings. Remember Apple themselves acknowledge that there is a problem. You only have to listen to Steve Jobs' press conference and view the tests that Apple conducted to determine whether there was a problem. The evidence appears to be conclusive. What is now needed is the good will to allow Apple the time to swiftly rectify the problem which can not be fixed by software updates but minor additions to the protection of the sensitive areas of our iPhones 4s
Nokia is over rated and boring, like a Volvo.
iPhone 4 is like a sleek new Camaro, nice to look at but falls off the road around the corners.
Samsung if full of annoying little useless gizmo's and overdone menu's. (I had a D900 and when you type a number to dial you get an annoying little pencil animation and an annoying pencil scribbling on paper noise) then again small things amuse people who can't really think for themselves

Laughable that Apple is trying so hard to find fault with other phones now. They are as childish as Troy

It's the OTHER WAY AROUND.
iPhone MARKET SHARE IS GOING DOWN
LESS and LESS %%% using iPhone.
I quote:
"
I do have to make a mention of this point, as so many clueless tech and business press reporters keep saying that 'Nokia is losing market share to Apple' or that 'Apple has been taking market share from Nokia'. Now lets examine the past 12 months. Here are the four quarters from Apple's peak market share in Q3 of 2009 and please compare and then go listen to the press.
Apple.....Q3 17%...Q4 16%...Q1 16%...Q2 14%
Nokia.....Q3 38%...Q4 39%...Q1 40%...Q2 41%
The popular myth for all of 2010 has been that somehow Nokia is losing smartphone market share to Apple. The truth is exactly the opposite. Apple is consistenly losing market share to Nokia. That is now four quarters and counting.|"

That's call number is not including ATT hotline call. So the number could be 2x-5x.
In comparison, HTC just got around 2 call/day, and the toyota problem only have around 8 call/day.
If you're gonna sue apple for bad product, you can buy it. Otherwise, you shouldn't buy apple product.
