Anonymous, 09 Jul 2010Well yes, all phones lose SOME signal when you hold them a certain way. But not ALL signal to ... moreSo do you have some figures showing the extent of this "problem"?
How many users are affected, many people are very happy with the improved call quality as tested by Anandtech.
The rest is a lot of whining from people who don't even have the phone.
Anonymous, 08 Jul 2010you must be color blind as well seeing as the 3GS has a samsung screenIt's not an amoled screen it's custom made for Apple.
In case you didn't know this Samsung, LG and other companies make electronic parts as part of their main business.
It looks like HTC and Nokia won't be able to make many Amoled screen phones as Samsung and LG are the only companies that can make them.

But not ALL signal to the point of losing the connection. And most definitely their antennas aren't exposed like this, an accident waiting to happen.
It didn't take Fring long to get videocalls over 3G working on the iPhone 4.

Apple offers 30 day refund on iPhone 4 ? ? ? Funny, so it shows they know they screwed up, hahah! Mine is going back :-)
I wouldn't mind one but there are to many limitations. If I can't reflash a phone and mess around with it's software then I don't really want it.
Not even close to N900

To start with, I spend my day to day life handling phones selling them for a high street retailer in the UK . I've had my iPhone 4 since launch day ... It's stunningly fast, The cosmetic revamp is good (although obviously an iPhone) and the display is just a sight to behold. For veteran iPhone owners there are a few other things you'll prefer. The mute switch is solid , no longer will you accidentally mute your phone in your pocket. Unfortunately there is now a greater evil ...
world best ever phone

Well, iPhone4 is my 1st Apple product. SonyEricsson failed to make great high.end device since months.....
[deleted post]What he's trying to say is. Steve Jobs is right. It is a fact of life with mobile phones to lose signal when its vulnerable part is gripped. But it seems like when it comes to the iphone, the media and the haters seem to make such a big deal of it as if this issue does not exist on other phones when it does as well. So of course Steve would have to reply "don't hold it that way" when asked about it. Other CEO's don't have to answer such a question because no one makes a big deal of it when it happens to their devices.

People have been buying cases for their past iphones for the last three years now, lol. And it's not only the iphone that people buy cases for. All other touchscreen phones have cases as well.
[deleted post]So does Fark make cases for the N97 mini?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZvCQfQxiPM
What are Fark cases like?
I've never heard of that brand.
[deleted post]Page 19 in the N900 guide it says:
“Your device may have internal and external antennas. Avoid touching the antenna area unnecessarily while the antenna is transmitting or receiving. Contact with antennas affects the communication quality and may cause a higher power level during operation and may reduce the battery life.”
And in the guide to one of their old flagships, the E90, you will find this on page 14:
“Your device has internal antennas.
Note: As with any radio transmitting device, avoid touching an antenna unnecessarily when the antenna is in use. For example, avoid touching the cellular antenna during a phone call. Contact with a transmitting or receiving antenna affects the quality of the radio communication, may cause the device to operate at a higher power level than otherwise needed, and may reduce the battery life.”
On from the guide to one of their current models, the E72, on page 17:
“Antenna locations
Your device may have internal and external antennas. Avoid touching the antenna area unnecessarily while the antenna is transmitting or receiving. Contact with antennas affects the communication quality and may cause a higher power level during operation and may reduce the battery life.”

Wow, haters still bank on the death grip, lol. That's old news. The iphone4 is just fine in making and receiving calls. It's even better than the 3gs. Majority of touchscreen phone users buy a case for their phones anyway, which solves the iphone's death grip issue.
Anonymous, 08 Jul 2010What is a bit arrogant is the fact that Steve Jobs did not include a flash player software on ... more1. On Flash:
Steve Jobs was not alone on his opinion of Flash. Microsoft said very similar things against Flash, and the reasons were similar to what Steve Jobs pointed out.
http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/20100430/microsoft-on-flash-what-steve-said/
My opinion on this, again, I repeat: If you really need flash on your phone, don't get an iPhone. This is what you don't seem to get. My point is always 'get what you like'.
2. More fan than fanboy
I am an Apple fan, yes, but I only buy products that fit my need. I have a MacBook Pro, and an iPhone 3GS. I also have a PS3, a Lumix for a camera. Before iPhone I was a Sony Ericsson fan. So I am an Apple fan, a Sony fan, a Panasonic fan. This is because I buy items that I like and fill my needs.
Lastly, picture this scenario. A person is undecided between an iPhone 4 and a Samsung Galaxy S. My advice? Get all the facts, and the one that suits you best, go for that one.
My question to you. In that same scenario, what would your advice be?
