iPhone 5 is the successor of the iPhone 4s. For many, the iPhone 5 may be the best gadget out there. But if you look closely, it's not as good as you think. First of all, the iPhone 5 is extremely expensive. The iPhone 5 tear down suggests that it would take Apple only around 178$ to manufacture one iPhone 5. From there we can get a idea how expensive Apple have tagged their products with.
Most of all, iPhone 5 lacks flexibility. Although iPhone 5 is powered by Bluetooth 4.0, you can't do basic thing like transfer file from one device to another. You still have to be dependent upon iTunes for file transfer. The User Interface looks dull and boring as it always looked. The still aren't home screens to swype through. The notification bar doesn't give you quick access to settings. You have to go through a hefty process just to change your ring tone.
Although Apple has finally increased the size of iPhone to 4 inch, that may not be enough for hard core smartphone users . At least, a 4.3 inch screen would have done the job. Though the screen size has been increased all the apps from the Apple Store are not optimized for iPhone 5. So, we see back empty spaces in many of the applications. Apple decided to remove Google Maps and that was one of their main mistake. Google Maps is the best navigation software so far. Like the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 has most of it's part made of glass. If you drop it once, don't be surprised if a part of the phone is cracked. Some people say why not keep protection cover but if you keep it, what's the point of having such glossy back? The iPhone 5 also lacks support of micro-sd card. That means you can't expand your device as per your wish. The 32GB and 64GB iPhone are terribly expensive. While a 32 GB micro-sd card only costs about 20$, if you want to have a 32GB iPhone instead of 16GB, you will have to pay 100$ more just for 16GB extra storage. Further, iPhone 5 lacks removable battery option which means no third party powerful battery like mugen batteries. If you travel a tot, you won't be able to carry spare battery due to closed battery cover. In addition to that, the battery life of iPhone 5 isn't that good either. You use a lot of application, then be sure that it won't even last for a day or so. iPhone 5 is no huge leap over iPhone 4s with most of the things kept same. Most of all, Apple's decision to remove Google Maps was a blunder. Apple Maps is nowhere near Google Maps is full of error. You won't get street view feature either. Don't be fooled and never go after apple. Be smart and chose smartphone that best suits you!Honestly, if you don't go for brand name, iPhone just isn't the device for you. Keep all the things I said in mind and you will never regret. anonymous00, 19 Dec 2012too many complains and claims, It's about personal preferences.... what suits your lifestyle a... moreExactly what you say....it all depends on your needs. And if price is not a factor on your contract, you can pick and choose whatever suit you. For me its iphone, for someone else GS3. And the irony is, that all the complaints and claims I see, neither me nor my son with his GS3 are aware of it or experience it. It's a personal thing! And if ANY phone was ok for you, why in the world would the manufacturer invent something new? That is the main problem with Nokia. My wife and daughter are using N8 and when they upgrade they will go for 808 pure view And all Nokia needed to do was to keep it the same with a few improvements....nokia belle is 100%! Needs speed and hardware things, and it can compare with any phone on the market. That is the recipe of Apple AND Samsung. Look at all the new phones from Samsung...same recipe, just a different package....lol
apple iphone5 juzz rocks....awesum u cn do nythng..damn cool smart phone
too many complains and claims, It's about personal preferences.... what suits your lifestyle and suffice your needs I bet its the best for you.
Apple u rock for constantly updating ur software ,making it flawless each passing day
New 6.0.2 update is great I installed it just now , somehow I feel battery life is up
I have to admit that i'm in love with iphone 5. though all this while i dislike iphone. but now, they've won me with this latest gadget. :)
If you want to go for the bigger screen of GS3...wow. It is still too small to edit files or do things that can be done on pc or tablet. Therefore, if you need bigger screen for such activities....get yourself a tablet or mini tablet. Phones, even the 4,8 inch screens, are too small to do these things.....the difference between 4 inch and 4,8 inch....too small diff to make it an issue. You wont even notice or feel it!! You wont feel that it is more comfortable as is set out on forums and reviews...same with speeds.....that diff is so small...
[deleted post]Most people read these and dont even know how to work with 1% of the things that are pros or cons. The proof in the pudding is the eating....and that can only be done but using the phone yourself. I owned both, GS3 an iP5.....in the end both are great. Its just the little things that attrack me personally to the iP5....so. We are making big deal of little things. If I like iP5, and someone else likes GS3....so what.....its all personal. All arguments on pros and cons are not even a factor when using the phone. Its like a putter in golf. What suits you and what you like is the thing!!!
[deleted post]Maps is a problem. But we know it. Google Maps for iphone is for free downlaod and works 100%. If you really want a GPS to guide you, no aother app will work like nokia maps. It is therefore only small part of the phone. If those people knew about the flaw in maps, they could have downloaded tom tom for example. But I agree, maps are one of the problems. But, to write off a phone cause u want a GPS device....look at other pros for the phone. Download Google Maps for free....its working!!! If we want to point at flaws in phones, this forum will be flooded on all makes and models...
ZM, 18 Dec 2012I don't think so...Both comments say nothing! "I phone rules" and "I dont think so" say nothing about reasons for both comments. Why would you say that? I also like iphone more, but other people love other phones. Everything is a personal thing.
Hrilax, 19 Dec 2012Thank youI love my cover for the phone. I use qdos smoothie...its great and non slippery, non scratchable and very light. And it doesnt let the phone feel "thicker".
deep111111, 18 Dec 2012Only issue battery life which isn't greatI checked my phone over a period. Roughly 15% battery drop per hour of usage. That include web browsing and phoning (a lot)! No need to charge extra during the day. Im charging it every night. And benefit of that is automatic backup to icloud.
chrishd32, 18 Dec 2012As much as I wanted to stay away from Apple I must say they have won me over with the iPhone 5... moreIm so 100% with you. The little things on iphone are the things one cannot explain. I own GS3 and iphone. Iphone just a step ahead. The biggest draw back for me on GS3 is the size. And the wow thing that nobody think of: iphone does not need the on and off toggle of switches like android. I dont want the os to change or the phone. If they iinnovate, as some people want it, what the heck will it become? What you see is what you got. And the innovations are just fluid with the phone. The 4 inch screen is max! Anything biggier is too big for me. I gace my GS3 to my son....
Hrilax, 18 Dec 2012I was using iphone4s for awhile and upgrade yesterday and i find out that i should not upgrad... moreMetal back phones will always be hotter than plastic couterparts...Why is a smartfone handling GHZ of proccessing power and NO FAN ASSISSTANCE not allowed to get hot??..All my early NEC Motorola and Nokia 3g phones in 2003-2005 got hot using 3g its not even anything to bother about.
The hottest phone i did have and got very, very hot was Samsungs tiny Z500 3g clamshell but it was a masterpiece in miniature back then..It got even hotter if charging and using 3g together to point of smell of burning but still nowt happened it functioned perfectly well...The only problem with heat is efficiency, the less heat you can produce the more efficient the outcome(unless it is a heater in which case its doing its job).
deep111111, 18 Dec 2012Only issue battery life which isn't greatbring it to apple. They will exchange it for you. Best warranty on the planet.
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2012Make sure your settings same as on 4. It should not happen. Both are great phones and 5 proces... moreAs much as I wanted to stay away from Apple I must say they have won me over with the iPhone 5. Im a big Android fan but most phones now are just too big for me. Im a big 6 foot guy but the latest Android offerings don't work for me. 4.3 inches was great while it lasted but 4.6-5.5inches are to big for me. Why?... I like having an all in one device. The iPhone 5 size proves to be and do just that. I love running and the iPhone 5 does not get in the way of that. I can carry it with me on my runs without feeling like I'm carrying a break on me.
Thank you Apple and I look forward to all your future offerings.
