Apple iPhone 6 back logo unlikely to act as a notification light

Samsung Android

A couple of weeks ago we covered a report suggesting that Apple would be using its logo to double as a pulsating notification light. This received a lot of positive feedback, but another, in-depth look at the iPhone 6 back housing suggests otherwise.

The Apple logo lightning notification rumor originated because of the slight recess of the logo on the inside of the housing. It was suggested that this space could fit an LED system that would light up the logo.

Sadly for many who've been hoping, Apple is unlikely to implement such feature. A new report from Tanner Marsh of BestTechInfo, who has iPhone 6 chassis parts in his possession, points out that the iPad Air back housing features a similar logo cutout. This is so that Apple has more direct control over the logo placement after it has finished anodizing and painting the chassis.

The recess also provides further insulation from dissipating heat. You can check out the detailed hands-on of the iPhone 6 back housing in the video below.
