Apple iOS Other

A week ago, Apple found itself in a tough spot with its iPhone 16 series and Apple Watch 10 series banned from sale in Indonesia. The issue was a direct result of unmet investment commitments in the country, which require companies to provide 40% local content to operate locally.

In a new development, Bloomberg News reports that Apple will invest $10 million in a new factory in Bandung. The investment will reportedly be made alongside Apple’s local supplier, Yageo Corporation, with the new facility dedicated to building accessories and components for Apple devices.

As per the new report, Apple has submitted its proposal to the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and is awaiting clearance on its device ban. Apple isn't the only tech company facing troubles in Indonesia, as Google was also banned from selling its Pixel 9 series for not complying with the 40% local content rule.
