Apple iPadOS Rumors

A newly published report from the Korean The Elec tells a story of three upcoming iPads. Two of these devices are scheduled for sometime in 2023 while the other is expected to arrive in 2022. All of them will feature OLED displays.

Apple to release 10.86-inch OLED iPad for 2022, two new 120Hz OLED iPads for 2023

The report goes into some specifics. For example, the 2022 iPad will have a 10.86-inch screen, which is coincidentally the same size as the current iPad Air. This might mean that the report is referring to the next generation iPad Air. Apple would use Thin-Film Encapsulation (TFE) method to protect the OLED panel from moisture and oxygen since the tech is pretty sensitive in this regard.

The 2023 iPads, on the other hand, will go for 120Hz LTPO panels coming in 12.9-inch and 11.0-inch flavors. The LTPO tech is supposed to reduce power consumption at higher refresh rate.

True but not even >2000 dimming regions solve blooming, also according to the reviews, so for true contrast OLED is unmatched. Though peak brightness is higher with miniLED, they're off limits for everything except HDR content, which is very ...

LTPO...2 years later, seems a bit late to the game. OLED still seems more prospective than miniLED as transition to microLED though.
