I had the same issue with my nexus 2 times b4 u have to consider
1.the micro USB socket from over use become not tight with charger just when u c the led below blinking keep the charger in that position and try not to move.
2.use original charger
3.don't leave it to be fully uncharged to let u know if it charge or not when the device is on.

And I also upgraded my unit to Marshmallow 6.0.1 which is now available in auto update in settings. so far all software and hardware works fine.
Overall upgrade test and experience from Jelly Bean to Marshmallow 6.0.1:
Jelly Bean (4.1–4.3.1) - no issue
KitKat (4.4.4) - no issue
Lollipop (5.0–5.1.1) - no issue
Marshmallow (6.0–6.0.1) - no issue
but please take note that i have NO application install to my unit and only 1 high-end game and it installed from google play and not custom install(.apk).
Hope this findings helps.

Guys, I updated my unit to last version of KitKat 4.4.4 so far no issue. Now I am downloading the Lollipop 5.0, but i am hesitating to install it because I am reading some user has a bad experience in Lollipop. I am actually planning to go forward to Marshmallow that is why I am updating my OS but I am hearing that there is no Marshmallow yet auto update in Nexus settings. I mean to be able to update your unit in Marshmallow you need to manual install it which is I hate doing it. Is this true? Thanks!

I bought a new ... more@Aleselva, I also encounter to my unit on part of "Trying to turn the unit on, but unfortunately its still black and only behavior unit showing is a white LED light below blinking". Can you please try to charge your unit for about 1 hour using its original charger, then after 1 hour, try to power-on the device while its still charging. But if you already done this part, have you tried to replace your charger at least branded charger (Samsung, apple, etc.) and not just cheap charger. Because cheap charger don't have auto power-cut when unit is in full battery charged. I am sorry for asking too much but who knows maybe this works. :) Let me know what is the status after this. Thanks!

I have had a Nexus 7 for many years. My first one fell and the screen broke. I bought a new refurbished one that has been working fine for about 1 1/2 yrs. Today, it was out of battery, I set it to charge and now it doesn't want to turn on. I press the on/off button for a few seconds, a black screen that says Google and a lock comes up. I try to unlock the lock by swiping it but no luck, a white led light comes up and then the screen goes into stand by mode. What can I do? How can I turn it on? How can I unlock the lock?
ok, based on the previous review about updating the OS, From Jelly Bean to;
KitKat (4.4–4.4.4, 4.4W–4.4W.2)
some are good and negative feedback. I guest i'll stay in Jelly Bean for now. Because, I am not encountering any problem or issues in battery life, GPS, or any sensors. :)
For Jelly Bean feedback from me, it is good, battery life is good, other features are functioning well. Sounds is good. I got 1 heavy graphics game (World Of Tanks Blitz) and 1 medium graphics game (Super Robot Wars). :)
I am now, thinking to upgrade this unit (ASUS NEXUS 7 2nd gen 16GB wi-fi) from Jelly bean to KitKat. Any comments about this part? Is it worth it to upgrade to KitKat? Any issues? thanks!
