Root after update to Lollipop.
It' not so easy but you can do it if you have a little of experience. You need to connect the pad to a pc with Debug Usb active on the device. Download in a pc folder this 2 files: IntelAndroid-FBRL-05-16-2015-PTR.7z and UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip. Important: use these version only. This works with Lollipop too.
Copy SuperSU-v2.46.zip in your internal tab memory. Decompress IntelAndroid-FBRL-05-16-2015-PTR.7z (it creates a new folder) on the PC and run launcher.bat. Verify that you can see the device connected via USB. After ACCEPT use the T4 trigger (T4 only). You should see a temporary CWM session starting to work. Choose to install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Follow this guide where you can download the 2 files too:
http://forum.cloudsprogram.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
There isn't the option T4 here, but if you download IntelAndroid-FBRL-05-16-2015-PTR.7z and NOT IntelAndroid-FBRL-01-17-2015.7z you will find it.
Not responsible for any problem. Can take a long time to finish this process but it works and you finally have the device rooted to uninstall all bloatware and more.

Updated to Lollipop. GPS restarded to work after a factory reset. Rooted again and deleted all bloatware. Now works very fine. No battery problems. Antutu score 36400.
Proto, 05 Jun 2015After the updating (5.0) no gps Uninstall all your GPS programs and re install them under Android 5. I Had the same problem but after re installing, my GPS is working better than before. I Actually Factory reset my Tab and re installed all my software from anew.
Good tablet android 5. works good for me only slows down when multitasking :)
Got Android version 5.0 on my ME176CX yesteday, but where are the 3 new Android buttons' icons (for Back, Home, and Recent Apps), the old style KitKat icons are still there. Shouldn't these icons suppose to have charged to simple geometric forms?
Proto, 05 Jun 2015After the updating (5.0) no gps The same here, NO GPS and I bought this Pad 7 for the GPS Facility, so upgrade to OS 5 is absolutely to be avoided. Set your pad to block automatic download and upgrade.
Asus is guilty of FRAUD on this issue and I shall be taking this matter further.
Got my 5.0 update and also made my tablet very slow. Hope asus is doing something about this. And where is the miracast feature?
it eats a lot of your internal memory..because of this, you wont be able to update some of your apps because it prompts the user "insufficient internal memory".. :(
5.0 Sucks... Slower, less app compatibility and it eats a lot of space in the internal memory. I hope they will allow us to transfer large app data to the external memory.
