Asus ROG Phone 6 flexes its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 muscles in a Geekbench test

Asus Android Rumors

From what we’ve seen so far, the major upgrade on the Asus ROG Phone 6 will be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which will take over from the 888+ of last year’s model. The new phone had a go at Geekbench and left behind a score card.

We have already tested the 8+ Gen 1, but that was an engineering unit we received from Asus rather than a retail-ready device. This is the real thing and it scored slightly higher than the results we got.

This particular ROG Phone 6 unit had 16GB of RAM. The TENAA certification put the capacity at up to 18GB, which will be the top shelf option. There should be a version with 12GB of RAM too (perhaps even one with 8GB).

Anyway, the new Adreno 730 GPU runs at 10% higher clock speeds compared to the original Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which will help it achieve higher frame rates. How much higher? That we don’t know yet as Geekbench only tests the CPU. But Asus did confirm that the new model will have a 165Hz display (instead of 144Hz like on the previous two generations).

Other than that, the new model is expected have the same size screen, 6.78”, and battery – 6,000mAh with 65W fast charging.

Asus will unveil the ROG Phone 6 on July 5 with events in Taipei, Berlin and New York.

I think you are wrong Qualcomm now for the 8+ gen 1 series using fabrication from TSMC not Samsung

I'm more interested in its temperature performance. Looking forward to real-word benchmarks on this chipset.
