I bought zenfone 5 501cg last month. Upon 1 month use i feel camera quality is very very poor, just like a vga camera. And it takes long time to capture and shaky wacky images. In addition to rear cam, Front cam is just a waste. Additional colours are added to face on selfie pics.
Then battery backup is only upto 6 hours when moderately using internet.
Coming to performance i experince a kind of hang whike typing and deleting texts, scrolibg while browsing etc.
Only positive is that its just a budget phone. If u are ready ti spent a little more, buy moto g 2nd generation. Camera quality is osum.
I got this cell just 2 months back and now it's giving battery problem, speaker problem and also it suddenly switches off. Product seems to be available at low rate but has such problems.
+Display is great (320ppi in cpuz)
+Performance is great
+Main camera is awsome
+Its have 16gb internal storage but still +have microSD slot...
+build quality is good
-batteray backup is poor
-sometimes overheat if play games and browsing
-not support usb OTG/usb host
And one think its verry make me sad,its close hard enough to root this device under 4.4.2 OS...and I still cant root my device till now
The tool you used to root it should also be able to in root it if not a flash back to the stock is and recovery should do it

I bought this phone (ASUS ZENFONE 5 A501CG) a week from now and I would say that the performance is good but one thing is the battery consumption. If I'm going to use a mobile data or even Wifi it last for only 4 hours so I tried to root my phone and decided to underclocked it using "SetCPU for root users" from 1600 mhz to 1333 mhz of maximum with a minimum of 800 mhz CPU frequency. Now! I could say the battery is more better than before and it takes 8-9 hours when I'm using a Wifi or mobile data and also it prevent overheating when browsing internet. hehehe Love it.
