I updated to kitkat when first released and still i am continuing with it. I too updated baterry fix after that. I am not facing that much problem as complained by many users here. Yes some bugs are there like my phone fm radio stops automatically after some time. Then i have to close and start again. But these are minor problem not affecting essential problems. Standby battery life is awesome though it drains faster during browsing on 3G, Gaming but i found performance is mind blowing for me, no lag, awesome smoothness etc. Others in my office also not facing those problems.

when you will google "" asus zenfone 5""
then u will get support site of zenfone 5 a500cg
mine is asus zenfone 5 a501cg.
And if you want a support site of a501cg then you have to change the url of zenfone 500cg to 501cg . just you need to put "1" insted of "0".then you will be redirected to it.
this is how I visit asus zenfone 5 a501cg support page.
So these are the problems.
If you have any doubts then ask tomazz sir. HE IS REAL MASTER in all this.
HE IS THE ONE WHO CAN SAVE US.
He helped me a lot and also taught me a lot.
THANKS A LOT TOMAZZ SIR.
guys i know everybody is angry about how asus says this phone has 18 hours of talk time and we dont get that much battery time, in reality asus checked the battery in place which has great 3g reception and they are only talking about the talk time , if you only use your phone for calling and just that , no music, no gaming, no photography in a good 3g reception area then you all will get around 18 hours battery too..asus knows this too that using camera and gaming and music will only make the phone last for around 10 or so hours ..
yes i am still able to access play store. i am not completely disabling services. i herbinate them, i disabled auto sync, all location services, main thing i stopped all wakelocks which occurs due to these services.. these wakelocks are responsible for battery drain even on standby

If you are facing any problems like battery drain , or memory card unmounting and mounting , restart in the middle of call then go for manual update otherwise keep on doing OTA.
I am telling you because you need to take lot of care while doing it manually.
You should know each and every detail of your phone.
because i came to know that when you will google asus zenfone 5 support

but are you still able to access play store ? because once you disable it you will not be able to access any google services which includes your google play store as far as i know .
are u able to access play store ?
if yes then please tell the procedure about how to disable google services.
I also tried once ... but play store was not working after that.
guys happy news, i just found out the reason for the pathetic battery life of this phone. it was google play services.. for those who updated to kitkat and still have only 10 hours of battery life in normal use, i found out it was google play services which was responsible for this.
after disabling those services , now i got around 20 hours of battery life on moderate use and standby time has greatly improved. battery drains only 3% in 8 hours standby. its great..

AnonD-309164, 04 Nov 2014What is OTA? Updating via phone? Or downloading from asus site, unzipping And then installing?... moreOTA means ""over the air"" update which almost all people do for updating the phone.
In earlier days , if anyone wanted to update the phone , he needed to download the update 1st from support website then had to intall it manually.
But OTA is new technology through which manufacturer provides new updates to users directly.
It reduces lot of efforts of user.
When i installed my kitkat update on 3rd oct , is was unstable.
then asus removed the update.
And again re-updated it on 8th oct.
Some of the users who have updated on 3rd oct still have unstable kitkat like me.
So that's why we are planning to download and install the full update(750 to 800 mb from asus website).
Through ASUS OTA update(approx size 25 to 50 mb which you receive through wifi or net) you only get latest update and not the skipped one which were got released before purchasing your zenfone.

I got my Zen5 a couple of weeks ago, i immediately got a 20mb update and then got the kitkat update through FOTA. I did not face any of the issues mentioned by many of the users except the battery drain. I did a factory reset ( hard) but not much benefit. My request is since i got the kk update over FOTA could it be possible that some of the patches are missing as the size available on the asus support site is almost double than available over FOTA, should i repeat the update using manual procedure after downloading from the asus site

My current version is asus_T00J_ww_2.19.40.18
then I have installed 1 OTA update of battery fix.
So will it be ok to download and install ww_2.20.40.9(750 - 800 mb)(when it will become available) from asus support site.
or do I need to perform any other steps ?
will the battery fix OTA update affect my full installation of kitkat os using ww_2.20.40.9 file(750- 800 mb).
I am confuse because of your following statement in reply to pankaj saini
"""The firmware update to this version will only work in steps described above if you have not performed any OTA update since you got the phone. If you have, please let us know what version you currently have, so we can help further.""""
Because I have done 1 OTA update of battery fix after major kitkat update.
