Using Zenfone 5 for more than a month.. was quite good before the kitkat update except that i wasn't able to make con.call. But after kitkat update the phone's battery dries more quicker. The lock-screen wakes often without reason.
Gravel, 05 Oct 2014after kitkat the performance is not smooth enough.
all transition effects r very..
anyone or... moreIt will be better , if you will do factory reset and reinstall/Update all apps. as soon as you restart your phone, google play will suggest you update all apps. It worked for me , as after Kit kat update i was unable to open setting menu and massage was showing unfortunately setting menu will close. after it i did as mentioned above and now issue is resolved. Hoping it will work for you.
PS Please take proper backup of all necessary data before doing factory reset.
I bought my asus zenfone 5 the phone is getting very heat when i use internet the getting very heat display is also getting very hot whats the reason
AnonD-279813, 06 Oct 2014Google claimed that it's camera connector has a bug.
I think that's complete bs.
The mai... moreYesterday i have tried this one to close GPS from google play services . but today i have checked again nad now it is not showing .
1)Go to setting
2)Tap the battery/ Power management
2)see than apps which consumed more battery and go to Google play services.
4) Tap google play services on same window and you will found a key OFF GPS 9 Battery saving mode) Tap it for making OFF the GPS now you will no more find the Google Location services run in Running apps. Dont confused with GPS(Location ) ON/OFF from from setting menu.it is other than this.
why the phone is getting so much of heat, the display is also getting very heat why??????
adjsl, 06 Oct 2014The same is here. but battery drainage is going fast.If i check on reasons to consume battery ... moreGoogle claimed that it's camera connector has a bug.
I think that's complete bs.
The main culprit in my case seems to be the Google Play Services, which keeps on requesting location from GPS.
AnonD-314791, 05 Oct 2014Haha.
Sure. Ill buy a battery pack soon.
How ironic is it?
A phone with higher specs is... moreone of things that I found turned on was under Wifi, settings, Advanced Wi-Fi - Scanning always available
This scans for networks all the time even when wifi is switched off. Turn that off.
Another thing that is burning battery is GPS - seems Google Play Services polls the GPS every couple of seconds, even when you are doing nothing with the phone, which drains battery.
Turn the Location off. Then on again, and you would be asked to give permission to Google to report your location even when no apps are using it - this burns both data and GPS - so tap on disagree.
Another thing worth trying - under Settings, Google (in accounts) tap on Ads and opt out of interest based ads, then reset advertising ID.
Finally, settings and apps installed before upgrade to KK could have effect both on battery and the stability of the system.
I do recommend, if you are facing severe issues, to do a factory restore from recovery menu, and reload the apps.
I upgraded my zen5 to kitkat firmware 3days ago. So far so good.
AnonD-303138, 06 Oct 2014Hi I upgraded my zenfone5 to kit Kat few days back OTA and was having issues like black scree... moreThe same is here. but battery drainage is going fast.If i check on reasons to consume battery ,it is only android system more than 40 % battery consumes and if you check running apps their are lots of unnecessary apps are running in background. One apps contact is always running even i have make synch off in every places but still contact apps running every time but before kitkat i never seen this apps to run in backgroung????. second one is Google play services with more than 3 process. smart card and input devices like apps running in background .
I upgraded my zenfone5 to kit Kat few days back OTA and was having issues like black screen after the calls, some settings like lockscreen could not be changed etc. So I did a full factory reset (pressing power and vol up and selecting factory reset ) then 're downloaded and installed all apps again.
Now the settings lockscreen etc is fine. No black screen so far and performance has improved very much. GPS lock is quite fast and stock camera also fast.
Battery life - I am yet to come to a conclusion - but I agree with tomazz. Standby improved but working reduced.
Overall happy with zenfone5 except battery. Bought a Xiaomi 10400mAh battery bank for Rs999 to help.
