Updated mine but the keyboard will no longer work.. AFTER THE KITKAT. Can't text and search.. Downloaded SwiftKey using the voice search. Now I'm using the SwiftKey not the Asus KEYBOARD nor the Android default Input because it's grayed out. Is anyone experiencing this? How to fix it? Thanks

Now im on 1.18.40.10 and cant further update to kitkat. The installation will fail. How to downgrade the firmware to 1.18.40.9? I put the 1.18.40.9 file i downloaded from asus in internal but no system update notification.

I downloaded 1.18.40.9 and extracted the zip file into internal,unplugged and nothing happen. No system update notification. Help Tomazz.

After kitkat update call ui is misbehaving,serious problem has occured after u call somebody and hang up the phone,the phone screen goes black and doesnt reverse to default call ui.
Please urgently update this flaw.

I would recommend everyone to update all their apps from playstore after kitkat update to improve their performance by making them compatible with kitkat.

You will need to manually load a firmware into it.
Or load an older official firmware, to have it unrooted again, then try one more time to update to full 1.18.40.9 (not OTA), and then do system update to 1.18.40.10, and once you're done with that, if it works, do system update again to get KK.

now the asus keyboard is misbehaving badly. i press something and something else gets typed. ive installed another keyboard which works fine now.

Today when i was checking ... moreFrom the error you have written down, there's 1.17.40 patch missing, it seems.
I'd recommend you root and downgrade the firmware to an older version first, then remove rooting.
Then update to full 1.18.40.9 firmware - download from Asus support site or http://www.mega-networks.asia/ZenFone/ZenFone5_WW_Firmware/
Now that you have this version installed, run system update and you should get 1.18.40.10
After that's applied, run System Update again to get KitKat.
Hopefully that will work.
Else wait a couple of days till complete 2.19 firmware is available for download and manually upgrade to it. That's about 800 MB file.
