AnonD-289600, 29 Sep 2014so, regardless of the GB download, there will be no difference between updating via OTA and no... moreCorrect, as it replaces whole OS.
Like if you were loading Windows 8, it would not matter whether you applied patches to Windows 7 or not, as upgrade would remove it completely and replace it with Windows 8.
MIS, 29 Sep 2014Dear Tomazz Sir as I heard, the SAR value of Zenfones is higher than Samsung and Sony models. ... moreThe highest CE SAR value for the device is 0.53 W/kg.
The limit in EU for the CE certification is 2.0 W/kg.
Page 165 of the manual.
Note that the highest SAR is on 1 line of signal (very weak, with strongest broadcasting) on 900 MHz GSM 2W band. Higher frequencies / better signal produce much lower SAR value.
That said, this is higher than my other phones, those that have it in their manuals:
Sony Z2 - 0.38 W/kg
HTC M8 - 0.22 W/kg
LG G3 - 0.23 W/kg
Samsung Note 3 - 0.36 W/kg
Sharp Aquos - 0.21 W/kg
Others don't list it in manual or on the box.
So yes, from those that list it, it's on the high end.

Otherwise how could i find the SAR value of Zenfones
Renegades, 28 Sep 2014Should i buy asus zenfone 5? What about its performance?is it really good? Plsss tell me plss ... moreI think it would always be best to go to a shop and play with a shortlisted selection of phones and choose the one you like the most.
Specifications are only a part of the story. Of course you don't want to pick something that will constantly hang, lag, and perform in a way that it annoys you all the time.
But the overall package, how it feels in your hands and how you like it when you are playing with it should be a far more important part of the choosing process.
Asking people on the forum should not be at all, as you'll always see lovers (buy this thing, it's the best thing since Earth cooled) and haters (this is a total piece of sh*t, don't buy it) and redirectors (don't buy this, buy that instead) fighting for your attention.
Read the reviews and opinions on models that are in or close to budget, write down the complaints and mark what you can live with, what's likely to be solved, and what is unacceptable - make a short list of those that you can live with - then head to a shop that has demo models and give them a test, with the list of annoyances in hand, so you can check whether it is acceptable for you.
And don't be surprised if you walk out of shop with something that wasn't on your list at all :)
AnonD-289600, 29 Sep 2014so, should we have to update to kitkat not in OTA too?Kit Kat will overwrite whole OS. So you can do OTA.
But note that it's 1.4-1.5 GB, so it would take some time, and you would not really want to do it on your cellular connection.
the battery life is poor i think the smart saver didnt work please help how to last long battery form my asus 5 thank you guys..
AnonD-279813, 28 Sep 2014Yes, Kit Kat will replace whole OS and include all updates. I am uneasy giving release date... moreSo what do you think the best way? Just waiting for android kitkat or root my zenfone than downgrade the version?
I've purchased this phone a month back after 15-20 days I'm feeling issues like phone is disconnecting automatically when I was on call whereas phone is showing full network at that time...
Please any1 can suggest me what should I do...
rinzz, 28 Sep 2014Bro tel him his came ra quality n His battry It is possible that Asus service network sucks in India, as I do not live there, I really don't know.
It is also possible that Asus was overwhelmed by popularity of the phone and has no surplus sets to replace faulty ones with.
Although this is not much of consolation, but these things get sorted out as soon as supply chain stabilizes, and I can't see this kind of demand persisting for a long time.
Then again, anything is possible.

I am uneasy giving release dates as they slipped several times already, but it is imminent.
Rooting is only needed if you wanted to force a downgrade. You cannot install older OS over newer or same version on a non rooted phone.

AnonD-313156, 28 Sep 2014Where to find various sound or ring profiles?Settings, Sound, tap on Phone ringtones.
For each SIM card, tap on ringtones and choose one. At the top you have browse, where you can browse to mp3 file.
amit jain, 28 Sep 2014I am surprised to hear about problems in asus zenfone 5.Mine is working very nice since i boug... moreApps can indeed run from SD, and you can even set default location for apps to SD.
But anyway, you received the phone several months back and then received every update. Many people who bought it later, only received last update but are missing all the rest of them in between.
I believe this is what is causing many issues and I replicated it by rooting phone to 1.14... well, that was the earliest one I've had, then root got removed, and I tapped system update.
Needless to say, it downloaded 30 MB 1.18.40 only, skipping all the earlier ones.
It is behaving very bad, speaker sucks, so does camera, hangs at times, flash does not work properly, it's heating and battery life is dreadful.
Repeated the process and loaded 1.14 again, then manually loaded complete 1.17.40 and tapped system update again - and problems are gone.
This is somewhat a proof that Asus screwed up update process big time.
But at the same time, with no ability to downgrade without rooting, I also have no solution, except recommending NOT to OTA update system for next update if by some miracle it is still JellyBean, but to load full 700 MB firmware file instead.
As for the case next is Kit Kat - that will overwrite whole OS anyway, so it should fix these issues.
