Thanks for your valuable replay.
before buying ZF5 i was so exited b... moreI certainly agree with you that the battery may be inadequate for many of the things that people can and would want to do with this phone.
However part of the reason for it is that JellyBean OS is not at all optimised for the Atom CPU, which should somewhat improve with KitKat update.
That said, this phone will not last as long as ARM counterparts, as Atom by default burns more power than a modern ARM architecture.
Then there is a high resolution (well, relatively high) screen of a reasonably large size, which is IPS. IPS screens have significantly higher power consumption than AMOLED (except in full contrast), and a lot higher than TN or IGZO displays. IPS brings better colour accuracy and wider view-angles, though, and is usually found on high-end devices.
I do not deny the under-performing battery, just saying that this is not because battery would have lower specs than advertised, but that the phone burns more power than many other phones.
Mentioned in several posts, you will also see that I discourage people who consider battery life more important than performance, from purchasing this product.

before buying ZF5 i was so exited but after i got disappointed not only for battery but phone is getting hit also with minimal use.just i did some installation
and browse some website totaly 30 min. but still it got hit. very precisely you explained about battery life by giving example of prosche and toyota that's good but even more application i am using in micromax canvas2 A110 but that battery running 24 hours in a wifi network and that have only 2000mh battery.
i dont think so ZF5 is will run for 5hr also in a same condition as micromax doing with 2000mh. dear friend please accept the glitch made by asus, there are many reviews on bad battery only.

AnonD-304062, 08 Sep 2014Prasad,My network is airtel and the signal are good....I am also facing this issue but in my case I am using tata docomo. so is this genuine issue related n/w or something bad with hardware or software ?
I bought ZF5. I experienced shadow fight-2 and danger dash are not working on it. Could anyone verify these games on zf5 ?
I am using this mobile since 3weeks. It is getting heated if mobile data is on and even not being used and is kept on charging. And getting discharged very soon.
Anonymous, 09 Sep 2014Thanx Tomazz... But if I use a power bank then is it a perfect mobile for me ??
Coz seriously... moreIf there's a shop that has a demo model somewhere, go and check it out.
I do watch the videos on it, and they are good, although obviously some others are better, but cost many times more.
Videos are smooth and sharp, colours vibrant, but it's not the brightest screen out there, when on default setting. Which is good for me as bright screens burn my eyes.
Overall performance of the CPU is decent, 2 GB RAM helps in getting several apps run smoothly.
User interface is very good actually, and I wish my other phones could install ZenUI.
Email client is good, the way it shows mails with large fonts. On some other phones with high resolution screens you can't see anything. Text is too small. Zen does perfect job at sizing of the fonts for readability.
Skype, Line and Viber calls are clear, I've not made a call on WhatsApp, so can't tell. But assume it would be fine.
Audio is on the low side but good enough unless you're in a very noisy place, like a concert. In that case a headset with noise cancelling would help.
Sound quality is good, so is the reception of Bluetooth and 3G (at least on 850/2100 MHz) if signal is half decent. Wifi also has good signal, comparable to much more expensive phones.
One thing that I really cannot comment on is gaming performance- as I never play any. And Angry birds probably isn't your benchmark yardstick, so I would suggest waiting for responses from others.
Battery is not very good, but a decent power bank, somewhere between 5500-8500 mAh should make 2-3x recharge possible, I'd just get one that has 2A output, since it can recharge the phone in shorter time.
Ritesh, 09 Sep 2014My Zenfone 5 gets heated very much even on normal usage.. Not to that extent that I cannot hol... moreI believe you're referring to the area just under the camera flash?
That's where the CPU is located, which will heat up when it is used, obviously. There's heatsink on it but it's not as cool running as ARM architecture.
So heating up to about 40-45C is "normal" when being under load. In your case you say that this is in idle, and that is not normal.
So could I ask you whether you have ever updated the firmware of the phone, as the original firmware was quite badly managing the CPU and processes.
Another question is if you close the apps after using them or you let them continue running in the background?
Are there any apps that could be running in the background all the time and causing CPU time?
Apps that cause heat, use CPU, and what uses CPU, uses battery.
So one way to find out what's causing the heat is to check the biggest power users in the settings.
But closing unused apps (tap the right bottom button and slide them off the screen), and updating the firmware, and possibly doing factory restore if the shop that sold it to you loaded any junk - should improve the experience.

I m planning to buy a new phone. My usage is like I chat now and then, I even play ga... moreI have typed the answer once before but then something went wrong with the server… so let me make a summary again:
You're talking about 7 hours of on-screen time + several more hours of talk time per day, with part of that 7 hours being 3G and Wifi, and the rest gaming or maybe even gaming + 3G/wifi.
I do have significant doubt that the phone will last you through the day without a power bank.
Although the performance of the older Moto G is mediocre, it due to that has a lower power consumption, and by that a longer battery life.
So while you can't expect the same class of gaming experience (nor video experience, if watching HD videos), Moto might be more appropriate for you.
I am certain there are other models out there that feature lower specs and larger battery, especially Sony is very generous on battery capacity, which might suit you better.
ZenFone might disappoint you in longevity department.
