I noticed that you can disable some built-in apps like kindle, etc. Would this help in reducing RAM usage as well as battery drain? I would not want to root my zenfone 5 at the moment as to not void the warranty.
Kumar, 08 Sep 2014Guys please help me,
I bought one asus zenfone 5
here is my little experience
gami... moreI am sorry to hear about the bad experience you have had with the Asus ZenFone 5.
However I disagree with your take on mAh capacity of the battery, stating that it does not work like 1100 mAh even, and suggest getting a Moto. Now let me explain why I disagree.
Imagine you have a Toyota Vios. It comes with say 35 litre tank for fuel. On the other side, you have a Porsche Cheyenne, with 200 litre tank.
Now it would be very silly to say that Porsche could never have 200 litre tank, and could not even compare with 35 litres, just because it can do fewer km than Toyota can with 35 litres of fuel.
Yes, Motorola G (previous model) does have a longer lasting battery thanks to it's smaller screen, 3/4 lower resolution, 3/4 lower GPU and 1/2 lower CPU specs.
And if battery is essential to you, do not go for ZenFone 5, as battery life is its weak spot.
That makes ZF5 sound quite bad, so let me say it this way: it has same or slightly better battery life than iPhone 4S/5/5S.
As for 2014 model of Moto G that is just launching - it has 2050 mAh battery, 5" IPS HD screen… which probably should sound familiar to you, as it's near identical to ZenFone. Actually the specs of the ZF5 A500KL and 2014 Moto G are identical.
And finally about returning the phone to seller - Asus has nothing to do with that, you would need to ask seller if he takes it back in exchange for something else or give you a refund.
It would be hard to get a refund on a Porsche on grounds it burns too much fuel...
I use Zenfone 500CG, can i download the latest firmware for 501CG model? Did i need to connect via pc to complete the update?
AnonD-298283, 08 Sep 2014i'am also facing a heat problem from battery while playing any game,
is there any solution to... moreThe battery states:
Li-Ion Polymer Rechargeable Battery
Output 3.8V 8.0 Wh
Capacity: 2050mA MIN/2110mA TYP
So you don't need to take yours apart to confirm this :)
It is a pain to disassemble it, though. And far bigger pain to put it back together.
i'am also facing a heat problem from battery while playing any game,
is there any solution to solve this problem,
or consider returning it,
as it has an li-ion battery not li-polymer as you all can check
that by dialing *#*#4636#*#* on battery information, type-li-ion not li-polymer asus is fooling us man

other than battery everything is good, u can njoy
ITS really a wonderful phone.Runs butter smooth,No lags noticed in 2 weeks of use.Camera is really good beats my mi3-13mp camera with ease.Display is awesome.ITs a must buy product the problem is that u can not get it easily.
I want to purchase this phone, is there any problem with the phone like, heating up while playing games, non supporting, battery backup..
im using this phone for almost a week now. all the specs are true and believe me, its really really fast! the pictures are really good!
the only problem is the battery. yes its the same as the normal android phones. drains fast. but like what i did to my previous phone to save consumption, i solved it. heres how:
* i rooted it (rooting gives you administrator power to manipulate your phone to its full potential) the consequence of rooting is, your warranty will be void (but dont worry, you can unroot it :))
* install SD MAID by downloading it from play store. this app can manipulate the (default) running apps to freeze or stop. if your phone is not rooted, all you can do is kill the app but cannot prevent it from autostarting again and again.
Now my phone lasts more than a day with my daily usage, 3hrs music, 1hr watching video, texting every now and then, wifi for face book for 2 hours, asphalt8 for 1hr. and i still have 10% of battery when i woke up. not bad isnt it? :)
hope this helps. God bless everyone!
In Thailand, Asus ZenFone 5 LTE has just been launched at 7990 THB (official price).
