When you are in area with perfect signal, what speed do you get?
If you use another phone with your SIM on same network, what speed do you get?
Trying to find out whether it's network or phone problem.
If another phone isn't any better, and speed improves with signal, it's likely operator's problem. Also note that many operators only cap speed but that doesn't mean they give you anywhere near what they are promising.
Download Speedtest app from Ookla. It's a freebie and give it a shot.
I never tested mine on the old FW, but on the new FW the speed is right where it should be, and about 10-15% higher than Samsung Galaxy Note II on same network (alas different number). Best results are after 1 am, worst results are about 5-9 pm.
There is an area which is heavily populated, and whenever I go there, my speed (on any phone) is not much better than what you get. It's not about signal, but the telecom simply having inadequate backbone to feed that many users.

IceCold98, 19 Jul 2014How about the fb problem? I'm concermed to biy this phone. There was one specific version of firmware (which my phone came with) that affected FaceBook version 11. It crashed when starting up.
Issue came to ears of Asus who recommended a way to install previous version 10, which worked perfectly.
A week or so after that, Asus released new firmware that addresses the issue, and allows FB 11 to work normally.

I have tested mine and it consistently works in about 7-8 mbps down, 3-4 mbps up on 3G (TrueMove-H). However I am right next to tower... about 5-10m from it... Which is great for signal, and even better for getting cancer...

... moreHonestly - I didn't check what version mine came with when I got it, but on that everything except Facebook worked perfectly.
After upgrade, Facebook worked, but I noticed several small glitches, that are mildly annoying.
But the good part is that Asus is coming out with patches when they hear of issues, so I am sure that they will continue to do so in the future.
So my take - if FB is the only thing that's not working for you - load FB 10 and enable the apps from other sources than PlayStore (google for instructions), and stay on firmware you have.
If you have a firmware with lots of troubles, and don't mind notification light not working (still works for charging but not for missed SMS, calls, etc.) and occasional black icons over live wallpaper (using black smoke wallpaper and sometimes, so far 2x in 2 weeks all the icons were just black boxes) which requires reboot to fix - upgrade it.
The second SIM issue happened on reboot only, first few times after upgrade of firmware, after that never happened again. Turning SIM off and on in settings resolved issue then, but it hasn't happened since, so it's hard to say what caused it.
So decision is yours, this is just my opinion.

Right now i am using 3g without any issues
But in the corners where the 3g network drops to 1-2bars it switches to 2g.
Then i have to manually search the network and select airtel 3g

This phone supports 800, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz for 2G (EDGE) and 850, 900, 1900 and 2100 MHz for 3G.
There are some countries that use 800 or 1800 MHz for 3G, that won't work.
So first thing - try to switch 3G data off, to switch to 2G. If you can use it, that could mean that your operator's frequency is unsupported.
If that doesn't work, try to check if your SIM works on another phone for internet. If it does, try to go to your operator's site, and find out what the number to dial, APN, username and password are.
Often when you buy phone from operator, this is pre-set in it, but when you buy from elsewhere, this needs to be done manually.
What you could also do is take phone with SIM to your telecom's shop and ask them to set it up.

I used gingerbread b4 zenfone
It had three network modes , gsm, which will use only 2g
Wcdma, which will use only 3g
And wcdma/gsm , which will use 3gbut if the 3g network was weak it will switch to 2g.
The problem with zenfone 5 is that it has use only 2g network i.e. gsm mode
And wcdma/gsm mode(by default) so as soon as ur 3g is a lil,by lil i mean really little weak, even when u r travelling in a car or metro , the fluctuation in network forces a shift frm 3g to 2g network
U will notice H sign changing to E, edge.
That is when u notice drastic speed drop.
However wifi, i havent used yet. So can't comment.
Anyone else experiencing it???

User, 19 Jul 2014My Sim 2 slot is not detecting the sim that i inserted. The same sim is working fine in Slot 1... moreFirst thing - go to settings, Dual SIM settings, and disable and re-enable the SIM 2 slot.
See if that works.
If it does not, contact Asus as it's not a SIM card problem, given it works on SIM 1 slot.
Another thing - I've noticed that my ZF5 refused to connect to network after a phone restart soon after upgrading previous firmware. Shutdown and powerup was OK, just restart wasn't.
Now on last firmware it works OK. So maybe they made some errors in the firmware? Don't know. But try the above, if it works.

Quickly apply for replacementI would second that. You might have a faulty phone.
Take it back for a replacement if your shop allows that 7 days period, or else contact Asus.
That is definitely not right.

tushar, 19 Jul 2014Guys any luck on why battery charging takes too much time?It could be faulty charger or cable.
I had that on Note II before, where it took forever to charge. Ended up being the USB cable from charger to phone.
I would recommend you try some other 2A charger with another cable, say one for USB2 external 2.5" hard disks.
That's how I figured out what happened, anyway. Took 10-12 hours to charge battery. After changing cable it dropped to good 2 hours.

User1, 18 Jul 2014GPS is not working for me. Anybody facing the same issue? Provide solution also.Try to check if you have location services enabled.
First time I've tried it, it could not detect where I was in the Maps. Then I found out that it didn't show that satellite dish at the top status bar and checking in settings, it was disabled. Enabled it and my blue triangle appeared on the map a couple of seconds later.
