AT&T will bring their LTE to New York City by the end of the month

AT&T

AT&T is bringing its LTE magic to its subscribers in New York by the end of this year. The official confirmation came from the company's senior executive vice president and CFO John Stephens.

The carrier vowed to bring LTE coverage to 70 million users in the US by the end of this month and adding the country's most populous city to the list of covered areas seems like the most logical move.

AT&T still has plenty of catching up to do, as Verizon started building its LTE network almost a full year earlier. Thanks to that, the Big Red also offers a wider portfolio of LTE-sporting smartphones and they are now expected to start selling the LTE version of the hotly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The AT&T LTE network, on the other hand, benefits from the lower number of users and is capable of offering better speeds, user reports suggest. So, if you have AT&T coverage where you live, now might be the best time to get yourselves a Super AMOLED Plus-packing Galaxy S II Skyrocket or an HD AH-IPS-touting LG Nitro HD.
