@jp what OS do you use in your laptop? --
1) you might have apple OS and your using microsoft sycronizer. hehe
2) is your USB cable connected on both sides?
3) does your USB port on your laptop work?
4) does your USB port have enough power to exchange data with your BenQ P50?
5) anyways, you might have laptop issues... if not, then your BenQ P50 is busted.

Common problems & tips for your BenQ P50 PDA phone:
- battery, charge your phone from time to time (mostly every 8-15hrs if used). you can bring your USB cable to just make use of your pc's USB port. in this way you can also sycronize your phone with your pc.
- screen "tap" problem - make sure to use "align screen" which can be found on your settings menu.
- camera - when using it outdoor when there is too much light, your phone's camera will work PERFECT! BUT!!! when using it indoors, you might have lighting problem. if its blurry... this might have something to do with the user.

ei zerx... maybe its not clear to you... this is a PDA phone... its NOT JUST A PHONE but its a windows based desktop phone. --me and my comarades use this phone for a year... its very usefull for us... and did a lot of great things for us.
because the phone needs to be operational 24/7 ...and because the phone needs to power up a windows based OS to keep it running... OF COURSE YOU WONT HAVE MUCH TALKTIME. buy yourself a second phone or maybe bring with you your charger. hehehe

your laptop needs an "active sync" that is included in your box/package. its a CD with benq software on it.

i have trouble in connecting my BenQ to my laptop.. what are the software that i need to install in my pc to connect my Phone.. i tried to install the activesync from microsoft but it does no good.. i dont have internet connection yet for my laptop. i bought my (unit and charger only) from a friend and im not sure if it has a cd for this. pls help me..

Hello friends, I own a new Benq P50, I like it..! Please someone let me know, first, If I can upgrade the actual operative system Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (spanish) to a latest Windows Mobile Version 5.0, in Spanish too, and second, where may I find free soft, like a GPS, etc., por the P50

how bad is the camera of this phone? quality? dos this phone has flash?

this phone is good in looks but worst power/battery output. it can not stay up to 8 hours standby time. 30 min. talk time.
if you buy this phone surely you will regret like me.

someone know about an upgrade rom?, i have a benq p50 with 1.12 firmware. but i have a serious problem, this device doesnt aloud to install net compact framework 2.0 even when you install the right version for windows mobile 2003se. i read about this problem and is in fact only in this phone so my question is somebody installed the net compact framework 2.0 in the p50?? there is any way to do that¿? with a newer version of the rom maybe?? please tell me if you know how, i need some programs that needs this version to work. thanks bye

The P50 can not to be updated to WM2005...Well, inded in Benq official website there´isnt nothing about it...Sincerely I think the P50 was discontinued...

This phone does not support SD cards even though it says it does. You must buy an MMC card which is basically the same as an SD except slightly slimmer and different voltage. I have used a 4GB MMC on this phone for a long time with no issues.
And to respond to people who knock this phone for its crashing and quirky behaviour. This is not a hardware issue relating to the phone itself, infact it is software related. WM2003 has a lot of bugs which may or may not cause strange problems on your phone.
Get this phone!!!

I love this phone. I can't find anything that I'd rather have at this time since my requirements are WIndows mobile, Candybar form factor, keyboard on the device (no sliders), SD\MMC card (Not Micro!). Nothing else does this. Just upgrade the battery and your good to go!
Btw, you cannot upgrade this device to WM2005. It is IMPOSSIBLE!
