I too thought that you could not open PDF and then in the process of setting up my bold i registered by Word to go (under applications) and this registration process opened the pdf viewer and i could instantly view pdfs aswell... no other programs needed and it worked a treat. (To clarify it does not open it in word, but the registration process activated the pdf viewer)

I am looking at purchasing this handset and I have just one question; is there an option in BlackBerry® Desktop Software that allows you to compress audio files, similar to the way that Nokia PC Suites does when transferring audio files to a Nokia handset?

blankman, 04 Dec 2008if u buy an unlocked bold does 3g still work? is at&t service better than tmobile?you could use with t-mobile, but defeats the purpose of 3g, because t-mo's 3g frequencies are different from the one it supports.

i bought 2 of these for my business as i needed wifi as well as the email functionality.

the first 2 handsets did not receive pdf documents via email other then in plain text format, something to do with the firmwre version. so i got these replaced and even though the firmware version is the same the pdf docs open... i will endeavour to upgrade at some point.

the deisgn is very sleek and althought slightly larger then the curve is definitely alot more user friendly in its windows software.

not had a problem with battery life, so far last over 2 days will full use of emails all day long and the blackberry chat service.

8/10 so far might give it 9 if the firmware solves the pdf issue. but at mo we send emails in rich or plain format which works.

you can use Blackberry with Prepay.. but if you use prepay you can not use BIS or BES which is main point people using Blackberry.

i can 100% recommand this device to anyone.
i am using Blackberry for around 5 yrs now. and its the best Blackberry ever.! i have also used iPhone & HTC touch Pro but this Phone is Rock.!

good things about Bold:

Fantastic Screen !!! so Clear screen made easy to watch movie ... (using Xvid and Divx)

Great Keypad. ! Improved keypad !from Curve. very easy to use.

Design>.! very nice design.!

Sound: it has Stereo Sound ! and Great Speaker Quality

now. Bad things about this phone:

Battery life: is shock.! this is due to it has wifi and 3G however if you do not use them you can turn wifi off and turn it to 2G( it actually doesnt really matter if you just receive emails. not very different from 2G and 3G) .. this saves battery life a lot.!

Camera: for me i dont use camera so it doesnt really matter for me to have stupid camera

PRice: very expansive.! i have paid this phone for $1200 NZD without Contract.

Overall: i am very happy with this and Recommand to other to buy it.! once try Blackberry and will never go back to other device.!
