This is the latest for MA users, the 00 is the latest for the GSM users. Both are similar but for different types of works. If your car is GSM, the 00 will most likely support G on it, if you lock the 0 and use the M card in it (it is a ld one so it has GSM capab it will only use GE

Both are similar but for different types of networks. If your carrier is GSM, the 9700 will most likely support 3G on it, if you unlock the 9650 and use the SIM card in it (it is a world phone so it has GSM capabilities) it will only use EDGE.

Bought this phone for the sprint network...phone is great so everyone can say what they want about the phone but the battery life is horrible!!!

The Bold 9650, aka Tour2, is a world phone. The Tour line was pretty much an update for the 8800 World Edition CDMA phones, which is why they were called World phones. The Storm also had this option built in. The SIM slot is for when you leave your country, or unlock the phone to use on a GSM carrier. It still is sold mainly as a CDMA phone, which means it doesn't need the SIM card to operate and runs on 1xEV which is CDMA 3G. There are 2 speeds, REV-A and REV-O (I think that's what they're called) and the fastes is REV-A.
The 9700 is built strictly for GSM networks. But, the only advantages this "Bold" has over the 9700 is more internal mmemory (512mb vs 256mb) but that will soon be evened out because there was a 9700a being released with the same amount of memory.

does any one know if this phone rings and vibrates at the same time as my last blackberry used ring then vibrate and i used tpo miss calls as i work in a noisey enviroment,
