Its an amazing phone.I am using a nokia E72 but still I want bold9700.no phone can beat bold9700.excellent looks and features makes it an unbeatable phone
JRF, 06 Apr 2010Yeah, I agree about switching phones being difficult. Well, not for me since I love cellphones... moreWell yes you are right everybody deserves the right their opinion. And anyway I never once said Blackberry sucks or whatever. I forgot to put my name over there. I wouldnt go to that extent to say Blackberry sucks. It is simply a not so smart smartphone with very little softwares for it and a heavy price tag for everything. That is how I would sum it up.
No, Blackberrian I am not a BB user throughout all these years and I am not a dude. Do not assume everybody's here is a guy to be called a bro. Saying ipod touch and SE sucks really makes me wonder the kind of childish mentality you have and how on earth did you come to owning these phones.
Surfing around the net for solutions for Blackberry is equivalent no life? Then what are we suppose to do, bro? So bro, since I ought to get a life by asking, do tell me how to get my blackberry desktop manager working because everytime I connect it keeps saying not responding and needs to be closed down.
Worked, 07 Apr 2010My friend actually likes the phone and is paying by contract. But I don't to be honest like it... morewell bro..enuff said..if that what u think about it..so be it..then its up to u..anyway,its matter of choice bro..hope u choose the right n suits u better..
My friend actually likes the phone and is paying by contract. But I don't to be honest like it at all.
In fact, reading some of the opinions here people say "learn" about the device etc when that is obvious. Anyone buying a new phone will have to learn about the device. There is a legitimate question about how EASY it is to grasp. If there are too many icons, it is overly complex it does not fulfil the instancy functionality of a phone, or it takes too long to change the theme, or it is too inefficient to check emails,...these are legitimate points to raise? Enough said. They're not dumb points they're basic points about a phone.
I believe phones are manufactured worst nowadays and, believe it or not, designers CAN make design faults. If you can't see them then you should be wise!
I don't think I'd recommend buying a blackberry and a lot of people say the same thing. Just because you have made the mistake, doesn't mean others should.
From feeling and handling my friend's phone, I can honestly say it doesn't look cool to have a phone that looks like a hybrid calculator and hybrid electronic thesaurus.
Tin, 06 Apr 2010OK, I've got a question please anyone with experience answer because this'll make my final des... morewell,my fren..in order for u to get all benefits from ur BB u need to sign up for the BIS..then u can get the "pass" to download/install anything to ur device..such as ym,FB,my space,n so on..
plus there is an app called BB app world (u can download it from the default BB browser) which is BB's portal to the 3rd party apps..it similar to the iphone apps store..u can view n then install a lot of apps there to ur device..there also a lot of free useful apps that will make u happy..u also can add ur email so that whenever u got an email it will push the email from the mailbox to ur device..that is the purpose to have the BIS..
unlike if u use wifi..it cant push ur emails to ur device..but u can check emails from mobile site..fb also can check via mobile site..but not as smooth if u sign up for the BIS..
Anonymous, 06 Apr 2010Yes I see a lot of people coming to defend BlackBerry. For the last time, I am using a origina... morewell,we defend what we love, like n believe on it.BB is the most stable devices so far at the moment..n they stand where they stand today not just because of their names! but what they have done in serving the pple so-called smartfone geek!..u should be proud n thankful coz u had a gift from someone..n yet the gift is something special - a cellphone(not everybody will have that kind of gift u know)..they need to buy themselves in order to get one..but u??u got this as a gift! damn..n ur cellphone is BB! wow, that is a beautiful gift..BB has a big name dude..what say u,if that person just bought u a cheap cellphone instead of BB!! will u accept it??learn to be thankful bro..
yes,i do have used different cellphones from different phone makers..but most of them r nokia's product..ive been a loyal to nokia for the past 10 years dude..then slowly changed to other products..i have used the SE w380i,the iphone 3g,the E63(than changed to the BB gemini)..currently i am using the iphone 3g n BB gemini(n i plan to get this ONYX whenever the time suitable!)..i gave my E63 to my wife..at first using the BB i do felt different..n a bit complicated especially the BT part..but then since i make myself a good research about it for about 2months..i know a lot of the device b4 i bought it..then i just need to be patient n learn a new thing..once i get used to BB..i just loving it..u need to make urself a good research n learn about the device, the technology, the system..then only u can be smart guy..never let ur smartfone be smarter than u..if that thing happens, definitely u will be dumb..
the way u talk,i think u just a bunch of kids who doesnt know anything about what is smartfone! ipod touch is useless..even though it looks like iphone, have a similar functions like iphone but it is just a toy dude..dont have 3G,cant make/receive calls n so on..y dont u buy the iphone 3g or 3gs instead of ipod???
about the BB desktop thing,so far im not having any trouble with it..IF i had a troubled using it just be calm n learn how to solve it ask my fren here in BB forum..hahahah..get a life dude!
using BT is a bit complicated bro..but believe me when u get used to it,it will be fun n enjoy..y u need to use BT from ur device to the comp anyway??cant u use the USB cable instead of BT! it much easier isnt it??erm,u makes me wonder la bro whether u r really a BB user or not!!
SE is damn sucks dude! never said that they r better than BB..they r useless..did u read at any SE's forum? there a lot of complaining towards their products..especially that so-called "high-end" product!! LOL..
first,b4 i jump to the decision which i made about 2 1/2 months ago in buying my BB..i make 2 months researching all about BB especially the product that i would like to buy..i get cleared my mind towards any doubt that i have regarding about BB stuffs..from the OS,the system, the BIS thing..all dude..that is y research is the thing u need to do!!! that is y im not buying this onyx instead of gemini..coz im afraid i will burn my fckg money as i never use any BB device b4..gemini is my 1st BB..it is like a "testing" to the BB devices..but yearghh gemini rocks me dude..im totally satisfied in using my BB..so,im no doubt in future i will buy n own this bold2 aka onyx..hahaha..once blackberrian always be a blackberrian (that is y im using this nick from that time until forever)..i will not change my fone again..love BB dude..
OK, I've got a question please anyone with experience answer because this'll make my final desicion of getting a phone, since I want to be 100% sure.
Is a Blackberry useless without BIS and/or BES?
I like the phone, it's a great business phone. But I've been doing research on the net and I still don't understand about getting the full potential of a BB using BIS. All I know is it's short for BB Internet Service and what it does is compress email files for you. Is that it? Because if it is I don't need that, and if it's not, then what else is there, and why is it important. Please anyone can answer this?
I just want to get an Unlocked BB and use my normal simcard, I might consider their communication plans later on.
stacey, 06 Apr 2010hi im tryin to find out which is the better phone ......the curve 8520 or the 9700 bold i dont... moreThe Blackberry Bold9700 is definitely the better phone in almost every way possible except for the price. I'm talking about the software, the camera, the quality, the innovation, the leather padded back battery cover for a comfy grip.
The only problem as I have pointed out is the price compared to the Curve. It's really up to you. In my country for example the Bold is twice the price of a Curve, and I think about the extras I'm getting if I take the Bold over the Curve. Personally I think the Bold looks better. And it's up to you to choose what's more suitable, and better looking in your point of view.
In conclusion the Bold is better, but for a price.
Is it possible to download applications directly to the memory card?
stacey, 06 Apr 2010hi im tryin to find out which is the better phone ......the curve 8520 or the 9700 bold i dont... moreboth of them r great..but to make u u/stand quickly..these r a few examples :
curve 8520 : sleek,handy,camera(2MP,no flash),RAM(256MB),using EDGE/GPRS connection,cheaper than BOLD2,processor(512mhz)battery(1150 mAh)
bold 9700 : sleek,stylish,more comfortable,quality built,camera(3.2MP with flash and auto focus),using 3G/EDGE/GPRS connection, processor(624mhz),battery(1500 mAh)
simmilarity : both r using the trackpad instead of the old trackball..also the RAM is same (256MB)..but the bold has better battery life than gemini..although im using the gemini but i can say this is the best bet u can get if money doesnt concern u..but still gemini has the quality to serve u better..im happy with my gemini..
but again i emphasize u plz do make a good research about these two devices..go to the nearest hp store ask the retailer to let u hold n feel both of them..then u'll know what suits u better..
hi im tryin to find out which is the better phone ......the curve 8520 or the 9700 bold i dont no which to go for
Anonymous, 06 Apr 2010Yes I see a lot of people coming to defend BlackBerry. For the last time, I am using a origina... moreYeah, I agree about switching phones being difficult. Well, not for me since I love cellphones and used to switch often. Anyways it is true that things like BT being more complicated and I understand what you say. And, I hate to admit it, you might be right. These are all personal opinions and while we all have the right to make them, there will always be the ones that come in and make this a battle field. But, did you see the difference in saying "this phone sucks because I don't like it" and then explaining what you meant? A lot of this goes on here, just check the iPhone forum xD. I just wish people would think before posting, because out of every comment I see of people needing help and then others trying to help, there are twice as many saying stuff like "I don't like it so you shouldn't buy" or "this sucks", and it gets annoying. I know, I know, this is an open forum and nobody can control content but still. I'm sure there are more mature people than idiots.
blackberrian, 06 Apr 2010well bro, whether they r busy or not is none of ur business! let them be what they want to be..... moreYes I see a lot of people coming to defend BlackBerry. For the last time, I am using a original Blackberry provided from the telco and not any China blackberry. I got it as a gift so it isnt my choice.
Have you guys tried other phones before switching to Blackberry. If yes, then you would understand switching from one phone to another is difficult.
I find even ipod touch which isnt much different from iphone easier to use. From their wifi, bluetooth to the sync software. I still cant browse the net although I have surfed countless tutorials to fix the problem. All I can do is ping.
The Blackberry Desktop Manager is possibly one of the worst program invented. It beats iTune in terms of incompetency. That's a saying. It keeps getting hanged and needs to be closed down. Again I have searched countless tutorial.
Using bluetooth to pair device to the computer sucks. It takes so long. At the end of the day it doesn't work.
I dont get RIM's team of R&D. Are their brains focused on how to make things more complicated rather than simplifying things. If I want to change theme I have to take a big round. Install alx then copy it to desktop manager, then sync it. Or you have the OTA which is equally tedious and expensive. First surf around for the site, or manually type long address to the browser and download it. They should take a leaf from Sony Ericsson's technology. Put .thm and install. Done.
This post is simply my opinion for potential buyers out there. If all these drawbacks such as not having proper gps navigation system, paying extra for BIS because without it your phone is basically like any cheap phone out there with no google maps and windows messenger, then by all means be bold and get a blackberry. The colour resolution I admit is really decent and it has style.
Anonymous, 05 Apr 2010If users need an iphone as well as a blackberry bold then will they have a busy life trying to... morewell bro, whether they r busy or not is none of ur business! let them be what they want to be..to me it simple..i use both of them..the iphone 3g n BB gemini..to me both of them great! they didnt gave me any trouble..maybe sometime yes..it do have lag 1 or 2 times..but that is normal(if u dont want lag or buggy i suggest u buy a cheap handfone bro!)..
let say, that the phone maker had released a new firmware or software let them decide la whether they want to upgrade or not..y u bother about it!! im using iphone 3G for the past one year now..n guess what dude! im still using the old firmware (the original firmware since i bought it)..no prob! ive installed many apps on it..no hassle..but IF u know about iphone u sure know that the 3G (not 3GS),doesnt come with many pe-installed or default features like MMS n so on..u need to updates the firmware then only u can get that features..but it doesnt bother me at all..coz i hv another device to back it up..i do received the latest updates from apple n my carrier n yet i still "lazy" to upgrade it..n im using my gemini for the past 2 1/2 months now..still using the old firmware(4.6),but i can upgrade it to OS 5.0..which is the latest OS,that also pre-installed OS in the BOLD2..but for now im happy with this OS..maybe next time who knows i maybe upgrade it..
that is y u need to know n u/stand about the thing that u want to buy..in all aspects bro..the cost, the need of urs,the lifestyle n so on..if u think that u r unable to cope with that..just buy a cheap handfone that enough for calling n texting..thats it bro! y u want to abuse ur brain thinking of this thinking of that!..yes,if that is what u said u can buy TV n so on..just buy tv set..happy??? 1000 pound sterling?r u kidding me bro??in my country, malaysia this bold is only cost u around RM2100 - 2300(w/out contract)..
which is about GBP419.25 - 459.17..n yes we have plenty of carriers that offered variety of choices to choose..they have a 12 mths or 24 mths..when accumulate the price sure damn higher from the original market price..coz it includes the data plan(BIS)..n also commitment fee (airtime + SMS/MMS)..that is y the price is higher..but not high until u cant reach it..
u cant 100% depends on what the GSMarena said dude..it every hp spec, they have stated there in the bottom "Disclaimer. We can not guarantee that the information on this page is 100% correct"..
the phones is not too complex if u learn how to use the fone..that is y im always emphasize that learn the technology, learn what is the smartfone n what its function!!!!..once u get used to it..it doesnt have any prob at all bro!..u need to blame urself IF u cant handle a situations n ur device..n i didnt said that this fone is the best..but yet,it is the best at the moment (this is my personal opinion!!)
Worked, 05 Apr 2010Looking at my friend's phone, Marcia probably wouldn't have trouble if she has really tiny han... morewell dude, like JRF has mentioned whether the keys r tiny or not it is beside the point..the point is,it is matter of choice n preference..yes,i agree that my hands is not big like u! not small either..but they r averages..so,based on ur post i think that simply blame the fone which u have no fckg idea is "dirty"!!..y dont u ask ur fren post something here than we like to hear about it from ur fren!!! y the hell u be his/her "spokesman"??it doesnt makes any sense dude..if u have problem u urself need to ask! not other person asking on behalf of them..is ur fren really have troubled with his/her device??
Worked, 05 Apr 2010I tried using my friend's Blackberry Bold 9700, inspired by the locusts of people swarming on... more1) Keyboard size is subjective to personal preference. I not only have large hands, but have chubby thumbs and the 8520 I own don't bother me, don't see how the Bold can be "too tiny". But if size does matter, then the Bold 9000 is perfect.
2) I had no trouble keeping the 9000 in my jeans pocket. Although most phones these days are thick, so the 9700 is pretty average for a smartphone.
3) Sure the BB OS has a learning curve, not as simple as, say, the iPhone. But definitely not too complex. But, that's why they say: Don't buy a phone smarter than you.
4) Almost every phone these days is centered on or at least leans towards social networks (FB, Twitter, Myspace) and BB is no different. You may not use FB, that doesn't mean that no one else uses it either.
5) With the available RAM and processor, no way can the 9700 be laggy. Although, this could be due to having too many apps hogging up the memory and not closing them. The End button minimizes most apps. So learn how to use it first.
6) Font is easy to customize... don't see why anyone would complain about that.
7) In some countries BIS plans are the only plans for a BB,not an add-on to regular data plans. So this only matters if you have to have 2 separate types of plans. In my country, a BB plan costs the same as an iPhone plan or any other 3G data plan, so no paying extra.
"In truth this phone is a money making machine for blackberry and the mobile network operators and will burn your money"... all phones are the same.
8) Never had any issues with SMS, BUT I did have 2 truncated emails and that did piss me off, so... ok.
9) Nope. No constant attention unless installing and uninstalling apps. Same as most phones.***
10) I did a quick job involving emails between me and my dad's boss over my BB (8520) and his BB (8310)and we didn't have any issues. We finnished in less than an hour. no phone calls necessary. So, don't see how emailing "takes too long". It depends on coverage as do calls and texts.
One thing about the "constant attention" to the software... it doesn't need it but RIM did screw up by not letting us install apps on MicroSD cards. They messed up the memory management which is why I said if too many apps are installed it will loose speed. But that's when it gets down to like 10mb out of 130mb of free memory. I agree BB isn't an "App" phone but more a "messaging" phone. If you want cool apps, there's iPhone 3GS and Android for that. If you don't know how to use it (before or after buying it) don't say it sucks. That's like getting mad that the hot coffee burned your mouth when you know it's hot. Learn to use something BEFORE complaining. I'm not saying BB are the best or perfect phones. But they are good and very stable. Symbian, WinMo are the same. Even iPhones lag or freeze, not as much though.
