In my opinion, the classic two major drawbacks, too wide and too heavy
Remesh, 22 Dec 2014Indeed, if horses can fly. But I think the biggest limiting factor of any phone is the comp... moreIt's not always about the size of battery or thickness of the phone. Look at Xperia Z3 Compact. It's small, not thick, its battery is smaller than other Android phonss, has 2.5Ghz quad core processor, HD screen, but its battery life is excellent. It scores above 100h endurance, and has 15h browsing time, unlike others that have bigger battery but perform bad on battery life. If an Android powered phone can do that, so does Blackberry. The magic that Sony put on th Z3 is more possible on BB. They can alsp improve a Blackberry phone without adding bulk on the device.
Once a blackberry, always a blackberry. The classic model is a masterpiece.
oxygen, 22 Dec 2014@Teo, it's quite surprising we are both in the same situation. I'm planning to upgrade either ... moreI'll check Classic before making further decisions. There are some drawbacks in Q10 - the biggest one is you can't see the whole message while composing it. I hope they solved this with Classic. iPhone 6 is too thin. You can hardly pick it up from the table and it can easily slip from hands... Both phones work briliantly I can wait untill 6s...
Steak Man, 22 Dec 2014I just hope its battery will be as good as Z3C and other phablets. If they can make a BB phone... moreIndeed, if horses can fly.
But I think the biggest limiting factor of any phone is the compromise between battery and size. With current available battery technology ( whatever it is, I am not a hardware expert ) If they add bigger battery, size, weight and price of the phone goes up and people complain. The phone got a better display or a higher CPU / GPU etc added, battery life goes down and people complain.
It is the other way as well , as lower 'specs', everyone cry for the blood of the company.
Probably it is high time BlackBerry come up with a very powerful magic wand.
PPP, 22 Dec 2014despite that fact that 'classic' is realeased after almost two years of Q10 launch - it is sti... moreIt is never meant to be an upgrade for Q10, except slightly bigger screen and tool belt for those who absolutely require one. It is actually targeted as an upgrade option for aging Curve and Bold series.
In that aspect....
- Classic has got a bigger capacity battery. Batteries are heavy.(WOW!)
- It is better than 9900 (WOW!)
- It is way better than 9900 (WOW!)
- It is way better than 9900 (WOW!)
So, there is no point for a Q10 user to upgrade to a Classic.
why they dont use 1080 x 1920 pixels or 720 x 1280 pixels
Phonoe will be bigger so more extras can be, maybe bigger battery with more mAh, better camera...
I just hope its battery will be as good as Z3C and other phablets. If they can make a BB phone with over 120h endurance rating or maybe 20h browsing time, more people will consider switching to BB regardless of chipsets/RAM/camera/OS, because battery life is one serious thing about mobile phones.
People should realize that it's not right to compare this phone to high-end Android phones we have today. This BB Classic is not a gaming device and not for serious amateur photography. You know Blackberry became popular because of their own unique identity in mobile phone industry.
despite that fact that 'classic' is realeased after almost two years of Q10 launch - it is still worse or same in many ways:
- classis is heavier than Q10 (WTF!)
- classic has less pixes density than Q10 (WTF!)
- they both have same engine (CPU, RAM, etc)....!!
- same camera!!!
why shall i upgrade my q10 ti classic, if 10.3 will come out for Q10?!?!
this phone is good looking but the problem is not all android apps will work because of its weird screen aspect ratio. The price is also too high.I love BB but this phone cannot not save the company. Just lower the price and it will be near perfect.

Yes -They must make the 9900 again called classique 9900 DONT CHANGE THE DESIGN. Change the software and engine only
This is the best thing black berry have ever done.
They must satisfy all their loyal customers. Now they must just make the 9900 again called classic- Build it the same on the outside. Just replace with the latest engine sand software.
