For "security" BB has to have your permission every time when you recieve something, which can be good because I know of people who send pics to other phones with BT wide open. You need to add the device the your "Safe" list or whatever it's called. Just add the regular password and have them both paired up. Then, to recieve, go to Media, press menu, select Recieve using BT and there you go! Sending is much easier though, once paired, simply select the file and press menu, select Send using BT and select the paired device. Now, as for laptops, my phone didn't work with my netbook. I think it's because I use a USB BT device since it didn't have BT built in, my brother's laptop does have BT in it and sending a file took really long for some reason. So, I guess it depends on the device you want to pair it up with.
onesmartwoman, 03 Jun 2010hmmm.... so u think its wise to stick to official software???It really depends on what you feel comfortable with. I didn't want to change my OS because I wanted to wait for my carrier to release their own version, but since they never did, I went for it and, to my surpise, everthing went great. It workes, no bugs, just a few glitches at the beginning but nothing anymore. And now, I'm looking to upgrade to 184.108.40.2061 from Singapore Tele.
With hyrbids, people are the same. Some know how, some don't or haven't tried it yet. I think it's the same process with one added step. I haven't done it so I can't fully recommend it. If you want to try it and can't succeed, you can always go back and keep the previous version you had and (if you made a recent backup) you won't lose any info from your phone.
can anyone help me with my bluetooth connection on my mobile.. i tried pairing it with various comps n other mobiles.. they say file transfer not possible...

i have used this such nice handset. i have upgrade this os to hybrid spiceman v.9.6. It makes my internet browsing more faster, i have free memory daily up to 105 MB, just imagine this. i have installed 19 premium application (go bible, doc2go, quick pull4, bolt browser, etc until 19 apps). no need to use 9700 as i just waste my money ;-)
onesmartwoman, 02 Jun 2010hey hi again.. I have started going thru this phone n i am so loving it.. very unlike the noki... moreSure, to update your device you'll need to download the OS from either a forum (I got mine from crackberry.com) or you could try the official BB website. I got my OS from crackberry, the version is 220.127.116.119 from Wind Hellas (Greece, you could go to blackberry site, choose Greece and then Wind Hellas and look for 8520). There is another version but from what I've read, games and other stuff disappear so I haven't tried them. When you download the software to your computer, open it (double click) to install it. When it installs, go to the folder it installed in (should be something like Common files/ResearchInMotion) and look for the Vendor.XML file. You could just do a search through your computer if you can't find the folder. When you find it, delete it. Then, from that same folder, open the Loader.EXE file. This will tell you to plug the phone to your computer. I turned off the internet on my laptop because some people said the program didn't read the new software because of the internet connection. Once you plug it in, it'll start to load. Press next when you need to and just let it do it's thing. It didn't take me more than 20 minutes to upgrade. Also, the software does a backup of everything but I still recommend doing a back up of your own using the Desktop Manager program.
I am going to buy a blackberry 8520.Any one can tell about this phone? any problem is there like sending file through blutooth, battery life, expandable memory how many?.Please, tell your opinion immediately. Thank you

blackberrian, 01 Jun 2010hey mates, first of all i want to say welcome to the club,if u really have the guts to be a n... moreNice one...to sum it all... You want e-mail and messaging go for BB. You want e-mail + messaging + ease of use + all the things a phone can do without going deep ..go for Symbian. You want eye candy try iPhone and Android and finally if u rank yourself as the geeky one and love customization plus full fledged office functionality go for a WIndows mobile. I have a BB 8520 for msgng as all other BB specs of Bold 9700 etc are knocked to dust by my other Symbian(E-52) and WM(Omnia Pro B7610) phones. I did not go for iPhone as it is more of a fad for serious powerusers like me. Conclusively DECIDE what you want and READ the manual + prior posts on all phones before you guys start ranting on these forums....
