Jon, 21 May 2010I just got this phone for my little brother as a part of his graduation, and I have to say tha... moreif the phone is new, let the battery die and then charge it over night, at least 3 times. From then on it should last longer. I've had mine since November 2009 and me battery still has between 35% to 40% after a full day of heavy usage, and if I don't touch it that much, I have 85%-90% left. Also, how did his come with OS5? I know it depends on the carrier, but all 8520s shipped with 4.6.1. and the 8530 shipped with 5.0.
I have 126.96.36.1999 from Wind Hellas installed on mine, and my battery lasts longer than when I was on OS4.6.
Also, quick tip, the carrier doesn't need to release OS5, you can use any official OS5 from a different carrier. Just download the OS you want, open the folder it downloads to and delete the file named "vendor.xml". Then, in the same folder, there's an app called Loader.exe. Use that to install it. But first do a backup of all your data in case the Loader doesn't save everything.
confused guy, 21 May 2010cn anyone please tell me which phones keyboard is better, the nokia e63's or the blackberry's?i... moreI am using this phone from October 09. This is my first blackberry. Absolutely no problems with the keyboard. Excellent phone for the price paid.

I just got this phone for my little brother as a part of his graduation, and I have to say that I really like it. For its price and what it can do it's not a bad phone. I've got an 8900 Curve which dose do a few things that this can't but for the most part this is on its level. I have to say that the Trackpad is just so much better then the Trackball that my Curve has. It's very smooth and responsive and you'll never have an issue with it, and in a way it feels just as natural as the trackball. The newer OS Ver. 5.0, is nice too. The SMS messages look a lot better on this then they do on my Curve (My Curve is locked and my carrier dosn't support the 5.0 OS). Really the worst part about this phone is its battery life. I have no idea what is up with it, but my brother killed it in less then a day. Even when I had it, using it very lightly not firing up Wi-fi, or Bluetooth, it still eneded up dead. Which is one thing that really bothers me the most, and its the only reason why I'm considering trading it back in for something else. I mean don't get me wrong, this really is a good phone for someone who has never had a smart phone or for someone who wants one, but you don't want to spend a lot of money on one, it really dosn't get much better then this I think. It's a very nicely equipped device, and very capable, but the battery life is its only real serious draw back.

Did she have them saved like that on her previous phone? If not, try syncing with Outlook or Google and see how the numbers are saved. If they pass to the PC correctly, delete the contacts and resync with the PC. Use Desktop Manager to help create backups. I'll check more into it and see what I can find.
i would like to know if i have to register with my service provider before actually using it for the first time, because i cant transfer anything using the bluetooth. anyone please help me out. thanks

Is there a storage limit for text messages? if there is who many? also, does it have a send to a group feature?
My mom accidentally deleted the contacts folder, is there a way on how to make a new contact folder? To view my contacts, I have to go to search first. Please help
Hi JRF, from the posts about this phone, you seem to be one of the most experienced one can rely on.
I just got this phone for my wife yesterday and had the contacts from her former phone moved to this new one (BB 8520) only to realise that when she tries to call a contact on her phone, the number is prefixed by +86 and it doesn't connect.
Honestly, I'm at a loss as to what the problem might be 'cos mine never came me any problems. Please, I'll appreciate it if you have an idea as to how I can overcome this problem. Thanks
intheknow, 18 May 2010your very badly miss informed, the 8520 is 3g (3rd generation) otherwise it wouldnt have inter... moreYou're misinformed as well. 3G means it has higher internet speeds, and some phones can do video calls. 2G is EDGE which is a lower speed for internet, but can still be used for it. EDGE on this device is pretty fast for mobile sites, emails, chats, and other stuff. For larger sites, there are Bolt and Opera Mini browsers that help keep things fast.
