8520 owner, 30 Apr 2010@Eqbal No you cnt use it because it doenst hve a reciever so. It cant catch GPS signalsbut why is it that in the options submenu, it has GPS on it? i tried to use it here in the Philippines but it isn't working. could it be that it depends on the country that you're in?
thanks Joao! lol got my blackberry now and i love it!but i tried accessing wifi yesterday and it connected but whenever i tried accessing a webpage it kept saying that an error occurred

in Features it is written GPS : NO
what does it mean.....cant i use GPS tracking or this kind of other software???
am from the Philippines and it's my first time that i 've got to use a Blackberry phone and i sure love it.
am a fan of touchsccreen phones. at first, it was a bit hard for me to adjust yet I was able to cope with it in just short while.
overall appearance is A-OK. but am just worried about the shiny black piano finish paint. it may chip-off easily.
optical trackpad seems to be hypersensitive yet it never fails to amaze me.
i've got a prepaid service from Globe Telecom. i thought i'll be having problems with BIS and my blackberry 8520 features will not work yet i was surprised that they also offer the same BIS with prepaid but it's a bit costly (around P1200 for 30 days). the good thing about it is that it will give you unlimited service. connection speeds is dependent on the time of the day.
to cut the story short, i'm enjoying each and every minute of it. won't trade this with an iPhone.
im having my 1st BB early this May,, i have a question... is this wifi ready..? I mean once i have the unit can i go to any hotspot then use my 8520? im sooooooo excited...

bb app world is also not available in my country. however, i was able to download the apps that you mentioned, i.e. facebook and ym. if you go to your default browser there's a link for each site that says 'download (site) to blackberry curve 8520'.

Connect your Curve 8310 to Desktop Manager and create a backup file of you contacts or everything you need. (Backup and Restore>Advanced)Once done, select the Switch Device, this will make it easier to transfer everything. Once it detects you old Curve, it'll tell you to connect the new device. Then it will copy everything to the new Curve. Once done, if you haven't done it already, login to the BIS website (if you have BIS)and somewhere it should say Switch Device also, this is so you can use your BIS with the new PIN. This sometimes is done by the carrier so I don't know if you got it working yet.
Also, if all you want is contacts, then try creating a backup of your contacts only with the Advanced Backup thing and when disconnect the old Curve. Then connect the new Curve and use Restore to add only the contacts data base. This should be a lot more simpler than I make it out to be. Hope this helps though!
I have recently purchased 8520, previously I had 8310. Please guide me how to transfer my contacts from 8310 to 8520. I have connected the phones through bluetooth but is does not give me option of "transfer of contacts".Please guide. Thanks
