REVIEW AFTER LONGER PERIOD OF USAGE
HARDWARE: it's good for its price range but it could be better, the keyboard is a bit wobbly and rubber parts are bound come off pretty easily. Also, the media keys are in a weird position but this is a matter of taste.
TELEPHONY: signal reception is excellent with no weak spots whatsoever. The sound in earpiece and loudspeaker is loud and clean enough
CONNECTIVITY: as with all Blackberrys, there is an issue with wifi and it is software-related. It seems that most of home routers just aren't so compatible with BB devices. It happens often that it finds the hotspot but it refuses to connect. In order for wifi to work you need to reconfigure a router. Also, before the connection you need to switch router off for 30 seconds and switch on again and then you can connect on it.
SOFTWARE: like with all BBs, this is the weakest link of this phone. It causes the problems with wifi (mentioned above), it can happen to hang if you are doing something too fast, though it doesn,t happen often. Functionality could be much better. As for the aesthetics, it doesn't even deserve a comment.
CAMERA: 2 Mpix camera with an average quality in its range
BROWSING: stock browser could be faster and more functional. Luckily there are alternatives such as Opera.
COST-BENEFIT: comparing to the competition and what it offers, it's still too expensive as the competitors offer more for the same price. Seriously, guys from RIM are just too greedy.
Overall mark: 7 / 10

Want to know if my Blackberry Curve 8520 Made in Canada has a GPS Facility?
pintu1, 03 Jul 2012I have brought a Blackberry curve model 8520fro rajlaxmi communication, station road rourkela,... moreblackberry receives and sends content via bluetooth both to and from any other company's handset. the phone u have purchased at the said price could probably be a 2g model only. it wont support 3g. yes the blackberry internet plans are costlier than other phones' internet plans.u can choose to select only the bbm plan which is approximately rs5 per day whch comes to about rs150 monthly.

i have BB 8520 .
application not working , and getting an error APPLICATION ERROR 523 .
my black berry 8520..why cannot send message and call out....?please hlap me..
I have enjoyed my 8520 without a single flaw or complaint since three years now!The applications are awesomely fast and the messenger excellent!
I have brought a Blackberry curve model 8520fro rajlaxmi communication, station road rourkela, odisha of Rs.9600/- on date 18/06/2012. At the time of purchase shopkeeper told me that it will run generally like other costly mobile. But unortunately I came to know that the above said mobile can not 1) receive data, songs etc from other companies mobiles, 2)It is not supporting 3G sim where as shopkeeper told me that "it will support", 3)internate facility is not available except Black berry scheem which is costly as compair to others.
My BB 8520 was bought last September 2011, and has met all of my expectations.
Prior to this, i was using a Nokia n82, and through Nokia Suite, i management to sync all of my calendar + contact info to MS Outlook 2007 and then, through the BB phone manager installation got it transferred to the 8520.
I roughly get about 2-3 days of use. Extensive use and it drops to about 1 ½ days. The key pad is amazing to type texts/emails compared to the my n82 and the calendar function and details you can add in the contacts apps is very good.
And secondly, this made it finland 8520 has to be one of the most toughest phones i have ever used. Has fallen many times from waist height.. and the real shocker was 2 weeks into the buy, i accidently dropped it from a 1st floor building (it has a hard cover in place http://snipurl.com/246ej4c ), The back cover popped off, and basically the phone got dissected like in the old nokias.
I’d give this is 9/10 for overall performance and the money you pay for it.
Hope this review answers all your questions, pls feel free to drop me a mail on email@example.com if needed, i will try my best to answer any issues you have.
