This is a really good phone, the price is very high and the front camera is below the quality expected for this flagship level phone, but it is a BlackBerry which runs on Android which is amazing in itself. The screen is just awesome, and though I buy Blackberry for their security and also the physical keyboard, the virtual keyboard is SO good that my friends with Apple and Samsung phones download the Blackberry virtual keyboard as it is admittedly the BEST.
Also, Blackberry is keeping up with its promises to make changes and patches/updates to the software vs. many phones which after a release will take months to do so, or they never even do it at all. This has been something that PRIV users are really liking that the software team at Blackberry is really supporting the PRIV. Things will get even better for this phone once Marshmellow is released for it, as Lollipop 5.1 is an older OS that the PRIV ships with.
The hardware is really great, quality built and feels good in hand, it is genuine Blackberry quality. So once they slowly get these phones into the users hands and get more feedback, the updates to the camera software, phone software, app software, will just keep tweaking this phone to perform better and better.
I could not decide between Apple and Samsung before to replace my BlackBerry Q10, but it seems the PRIV is the best of all worlds. It runs Android, it is BlackBerry hardware, and I can feel that it is a secure device to use as government agencies, medical, political enterprises are still all using Blackberry for secure phones. I guess people just don't care really about privacy anymore or phones getting hacked, but when we begin to adopt this attitude, then you may as well leave your front doors unlocked and your keys in your car. Our data is extremely vital and important.. you see entities like Google and Facebook just harvesting our information so they can resell it to advertisers, and law enforcement use the same data as well as government to build a profile on you. For that reason, it makes sense to have a secure phone. I don't care if Blackberry users are a dying breed, this is still very good hardware but again, just the price is the main issue. If Blackberry released this phone in the $499-599 range, they would have killed it for real. But because of the price, people hesitate. Now they've expanded to 4 more countries (34 total) and Verizon has picked them up, sales numbers should increase nicely. Reviews from purchasers all seem quite positive, so read some and check out this phone.
The Canucks still got a long way to go to before being able enough to compete against Apple and Motorola.

I have a Passport and LOVE it. Wife has a Z10. The Z10 is getting old. Any suggestions what to get for her? PRIV or something else? We need our phones to work well for business. BB10 is fantastic, but it looks like a lot of support for it is disappearing. For example, FB is gone now. I tried the apk through 1mobilemarket. It does not work! Thoughts?

Not being a PRIV owner, and the closest telco stores are 100km away... Want to ask a question to a PRIV owner.
The keyboard doubling as a keypad;
Do you simply slide your finger around on it to move the cursor?
I am new to iOS devices, and had major issues when creating documents' I couldn't easily move the cursor. Then I found out if I put two fingers on the onscreen keyboard I could use it as a trackpad. I find the onscreen keyboard 'usable' now.
I was sooo excited when I heard a new keyboard phone was coming to market. My last keyboard phone was a TouchPRO 2 (by HTC). (Ran WinMobile, had a single core processor and had paltry RAM, but the keyboard was sooo good. My SMSs' were the best they had ever been. Bit like my rants here I suppose....)
Anyhow I have been considering retiring a Note Edge. Giving up the Stylus is a hard decision to come to. I know that a keyboard is vastly more practical for my workflow, but without having the precision of the stylus for onscreen selection, knowing a little bit more about how the 'trackpad' works would be great...
BlackBerry priv o samsung s7? Which one is better?
[deleted post]Convert your current blackberry to android in less than $100.
You have blackberry bold, Q10, Z10 or Z30 and need android apps. No need to buy any android phone or iphone.
Just buy Andriod tablet with only wifi connection. Blackberry phone are best to use for work place throughout day. After work, turn your blackberry hotspot on and pair with any android tablet priced within $100.
You can use all the apps and enjoy life. Also screen may be 7 inch to 10 inch and you can enjoy better.
So you are comfortable both at work place using blackberry and appear sober. Also you can enjoy android tablet with all the apps.
EnjoyÂ…Â….
