No joke, this is the exact phone I have been waiting for. A flagship phone with amazing specs as well as having a keyboard. I never thought the day would come and I honestly NEVER would have thought it would be my old favorite company making it! So happy about this and I will totally be buying this when it comes out. Now I guess we just all have to play the waiting game. Hopefully it's before Christmas!

coming from a computer hardware technician and crackberry addict BB is off to a good start with this new phone.
                                      Here's the run down ceo's-------
1.) The name Priv sucks! there is no better way to say this. Venice is better if you have to use a lame name.
2.) you want to build a phone to make waves and re-establish your position in the market don't come with a pansy processor 2.0 to 2.2 with at least a dual or quad core processor will see you at least 5yrs. into the future with this or any new phone you build. THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR WEAKNESS OF YOURS! and punishment for us loyalist. 1.6Ghz was the minimum like 6yrs ago! I can't believe they still allow processors below this speed.
3.) I should charge you for this!
4.) I use a torch now I have had the 9800 and now have the 9810 I can out type most anyone using an adaptive touch screen keyboard without selecting pop up words using a touch screen. The QWERTY key board in the right hands will blow away most people all the time in a text conversation or instant email chat. yea that's right i said instant e-mail chat! You can do that with a blackberry keyboard.
5.) The slide is awesome i have been looking for a replacement slide for my 9810 for 2yrs. now. I was really worried. Touch screen has it's limited advantages (usually when browsing) but, it can't compete with a keyboard for correspondence
6.) BB biggest weakness since the outbreak of Android and I phone has been it's limited app capabilities. latching onto the Android app market is a incredibly smart decision. If you can do it as a gue or with some kind of generic yet seamless ( and I mean seamless) bit of software that would be even better without sacrificing security. 90% to 100% compatibility with android apps would be more than awesome.
7.) phone absolutely neeeeeeds Adobe software i.e pdf reader or more and most importantly Adobe flash player which has been missing for ever. both of these need to be constantly upgradeable to the latest version. Adobe pdf is very secure and Adobe flash player is necessary to watch any video that is not running solely on Java.
8.) Very important to have removable storage. Most smart phone's are getting away from this these days in favor of lager internal storage but removable storage is by far the best way to recover from dropping your phone in the water or running it over. or if it just stops working. I still have micro sd from 3 phones ago and it has carried my info seamlessly from one phone to the next no matter how the last phone met it's end. no cloud needed but still optional!
9.) I don't know if there is a way to get the battery in this phone to be removable and still have this style of phone be structurally sound but having a removable battery is another super important thing that aids to a phone's longevity. A batteries ability to recharge diminishes long before a responsible phone owner's phone is useless and, usually before any 2 year contract could possibly come to a end. it has always been very nice to be able to purchase a replacement battery for 10 to 20 bucks and have my $400 to $600 dollar phone NOT BE WORTHLESS!
10.) Speaking of structure; BB has built solid droppable phone's with the curve, bold, torch and, similar phone's that my colleagues and I have used for years. BB users can attest to the fact that you have to drop a traditional BB phone just right to see it's demise. other manufacturers have been putting cheap breakable phone's on the market for years forcing their customers to purchase expensive cases and protective gear. The phone i have owned the longest is my 9810 without any case what so ever! I had a salesperson actually approach me in a store when I was looking for a blackberry replacement and he wouldn't leave me alone (this may seem extreme but) when he wouldn't go away I threw my torch 9810 at the floor and made a phone call right in front of him afterwords to let him hear the phone ring and then asked him if he had anything on his shelf that could do that. He then stopped talking to me about all the junk on the shelf and started telling my about how the only phone that i could get to do that would be some kind of junk rugby or simple military grade phone. Wrong! blackberry had been putting rugged somewhat capable phone's out for years. HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO PUT OUT A RUGGED VERY CAPABLE PHONE! LETS DO IT!
