the only reason why the storm came out so early with bugs and everything is because after iphone came out almost all phone companies tried to compete with it even though its a year after (nokia 5800 xpress music, sony ericsson xperia, lg, samsung and more) so RIM didnt want out....to all of you blackberry lovers if you bought the Bold then stick with it and if not and your planning on doing a phone upgrade then buy the Bold....i have used and its a great phone to have
You know guys this phone is not good if you look at the majority opinions, on this site, mags or elsewhere.
Yet daily we see new higher end devices, like the Swiss army knives of phones packed with stuff you simply will never use, and need even less, yet you buy it any the stores and manufacturers love you for the profit you give them.
There is space in the market for GOOD Blackberry device, that has real quality and functionality and no more. Basically a better version of the Storm. There are plenty of useful applications to be had from RIM, all useless of course if the battery is flat by midday or the screen is not user friendly, the UI fiddly and the build quality is fragile.
RIM must know by now that the Storm has received a luke warm reception for what was supposed ot be its flagship product, but they allowed themselves to be pushed by Vodafone and here is the result. Before they loose market share and reputation, they need to address the issues people dislike, show they are listening to their customers and get out a product which meets, if not exceeds expectations and in so doing remedy the big mistake we know as the Storm.
I need to get a new phone but i'm confused. The blackberry storm is the front runner but what else is out ther and what is better?
NO WLAN!?!?!?! WHAAT!!!... nowadays some companies seem as if there taking a step back rather than a step forward... :S
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Had 3 blackberry Storms, Had 3 'Repairs' also. Switching back to old faithfull Nokia N96. Blackberry Storm is PANTS.

Then next post fairly major problem.
Says much about the product.
With all the negative comments, it really is passed time that RIM brought out a hurricane and fixed all the issues for all time, including the most common complaint of very weak battery.
The Storm is fine and has marvelous features and is not difficult to use obviously after some trial and error, usual thing with any complex equipment.
However there is always a however these day. I cannot get the phone to work with the supplied software to backup restore and or sychronsise with Outlook. The buttons on the PC screen are greyed out so are therefore inactive.
The upshot of this is that I am carrying my old phone around with my contact numbers on it so that I can look them up on that in order to make calls, text or even email to existing contacts on the storm.
This one problem if it remains unresolved will make the Storm basilcally useless to me as I have to synchronise with outlook more or less daily and also backup at least weekly.
Anyone else had this problem ?
I have had thi gorgeous phone for the past 2 weeks and have to clarify loads of comments(not owners) critisising the 9500. I have had no issues with the phone and battery life is normal 2-3 days. Perfect size, perfect sound, perfect picture, large message buttons, bluetooth perfect, what else do you want in a phone? It has it! So if you have the money, BUY IT and make yourself happy.
Anonymous, 13 Feb 2009Does anyone have any idea whether there is going to be another Blackberry Storm with Wi-fi?? Nobody can truly tell you this, as if RIM let slip such info the Storm would die instantly.(llok what happened to the tocco when the Omnia was leaked) I share your implied hope that a heavily revised model will come out sooner rather than later.

Build quality is another issue, look at the gap around the screen and the thin buttons at the bottom. If you want a feature packed phone, try the Samsung Omnia, if not (and this is my advice) think hard about what you REALLY need for a phone and buy one that has those features and no more. Stores will always sell you more than is necessary.
I haven't yet had a blackberry or an iphone and am looking to get a phone with similar features.
I really like the look of the blackberry storm after seeing it yesterday but am not sure if i won't have problems with it after reading some reviews.
For example, people seem to be having problems with the battery life and wifi. Even after changing the backlight, power saver options and bluetooth are people still having problems with the battery life?
I'd prefer to get a blackberry over the iphone as i already have a 16 gig ipod so see no real need for an iphone. Although I'm looking for a phone that won't have alot of problems as I've already been in that situation numerous times. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I was also wondering if the blackberry storm comes with casing and headphones with purchase?
worst phone i have ever sold (i work for vodafone), everything on this phone is terrible to b honest. battery life is so poor we give a free battery with every storm we sell. Only thing u can do about ur battery is to ensure that the 3G is off, Bluetooth if off, anotha tip is to go the the screen options and put the backlight to 30. This should all help the battery life. Also ensure u have the latest bb software installed. If not then go to OPTIONS, ADVANCED OPTIONS, then at the bottom of the page should be WIRELESS UPGRADE. make sure u BACKUP all data as it WILL be deleted.

the review above says that the phone can take a expandable memory of a micro SDHD of upto 8GB. Was this written before the 16GB cards came out in the market. I want to get a decent memory stock for this and vodafone no very clear whether the 16GB Micro SDHC cards will work. Any thoughts? thanks ..
Amazing phone, i absolutely love it.
Great features, i havent had a problem with it yet. We so far in our store have had not nearly as many DOAS or Repairs as the iphone.d
All in all, great job blackberry
GREG, 10 Feb 2009the battery is shocking.i charge overnight and by 15h00 it is flat.
the accelerometer is also... morehi,
ive read your comment about the battery, have you tried turning the 3G off and also make sure you dont leave any programs running in the background.
