michael, 02 Apr 2013I do not understand all the negative comments as I have been using this phone for a month now ... moreThe specs or the hardware components is important factor when it comes to choosing a new phone ...
Having a quad core cpu is not for show ! a powerful GPU is not just a number on paper ! Yes the performance is the most important test but it also depends on what are using your phone for . you for example say that your daily use is mainly internet browsing and emails so maybe the z10 is very good at doing this but is this the only use for smart phones today ? the answer is no there are many other things like watching videos (HD ones are common now) playing 3D games even 2D/3D CAD ! and with these types of apps the quad core ,the ram and the GPU will make a huge deference regardless of your OS!
Z10 is good phone by BB standards and it aimed at the lovers of this brand but comparing it to the latest of Android phone will never end in his favor

I love the Z10 and i wanna buy it over the weekend. my biggest problem is the data plan provided by service providers (whether it will be sufficient) given the fact that i use e-mails a lot and also the twitter and whattsapp applications. pls advice
I just bought my BlackBerry Z10 awhile ago and my friend told me that I have to charge it for 6 hours to optimize the battery life since this is the first charge. Do I really have to or this is just a myth?
I do not understand all the negative comments as I have been using this phone for a month now and I do not see any problem. Everything works perfectly, and I don't see any slow down in performance at all (unlike my Xperia Arc S I got last year which started to lag after a month, and takes 3 to 5 seconds to respond to anything i touched now).
This is a productivity phone, very smooth and efficient. 90% of my time are spent on browser, emails, whatsapps. What usually took me 30 seconds to do on my Xperia took less than 10 seconds because things are flowing in and out so smoothly and efficiently. If you need game apps to kill time, there are abundance, although not as much as iOS and Android.
As for dropped calls, lagging, hanging, shutting down etc that someone mentioned, I have never encountered that even once. My apps did hang a couple times (apps' problem, not phone), but my phone didn't hang and all I needed to do was gently swipe up and close the app.
As for the spec, I amazed me now one dimensional some people's reasonings are. Why do you need a quad core when duo core is performing just as well with the BB10 OS? BB10 OS is different from iOS or Android, so the hardware requirement is different too! If duo core is enough to handle things, why go quad core and burn more battery?? As a user, do you even care what chips are used as long as you have a smooth experience?
Try it before you comment. I moved from iPhone 3G to Xperia Arc S to BlackBerry Z10. I read all good reviews about Nokia and decided to get one, but ended up getting an Xperia when I tried them hands-on. Xperia served me very well (but it lags quickly). But Z10 is such a huge step above it. Try using z10, scroll quickly through its picture gallery, its webpages, flip between apps and emails, turns things on and off, feel how smoothly and seamlessly everything fit together before you decide this is an inferior device.
I also don't like the phone at first, but wait until you the device for a week or two, see what will happen. I bet you start to love it
I don't understand why would someone pay such amount of money for this "low" specs ?!?
dual core cpu ... aderno 225 gpu this are the specs for early 2012 smartphones !!
and the appz ..why on earth would i run android apps on non-android phone ?
for this price tag i will get the Sony z or better for much much less i will get the wonderful Nexus 4
AnonD-131536, 01 Apr 2013For the price of the Z10 is a bit much, but prices will drop. For the moment. If you are plann... moreStay away from WP8. The whole premise of their phone ios is that you'll always have either Wi-Fi or Network access to their cloud storage. Why is this a problem? Try to save a mp3 file (or any media file for that matter) that someone e-mails you. You can't save the file and need open the e-mail app, find the mail and then open the file. Try to browse the filesystem with a 3rd party app. You can't.
Another Microsoft 2 steps forward, 1 step back OS.
With the exception of google, These pOS manufacturers seem to think the whole world only needs point and tap. There are a good number of us who want access to the phone OS filesystem because we want to decide how to organize our personal files.
Gee, kindof the idea behind a filing system.
greybeard, 01 Apr 2013No, it is not better than any android, plus it has almost NO apps. Better buy quality android ... moreWhat apps do you really need in your life. Most people are not big app users as such. It is a myth. Most apps by volume are useless. I have absolutely no interest lowering my intelligence by spending my life trawling the internet looking at rubbish apps. Get a life man. Of course there are s few good things such as Skype plus tools for editing MS docs etc, but apart from that perhaps WhatsApp or Viper, but what else do you need. Skype is coming to BB soon. It is BS to rant on about apps. Research in Australia showed the vast majority of smart phone users do not down load apps, why, because 99% are useless and time wasting rubbish.
In response to "greybeard's" post about a lack of applications, you can actually sideload Android applications on the BlackBerry Z10 and they execute just like any Android based phone (for example a Samsung Galaxy SII, HTC One X etc...). So your point of lack of applications is invalid. Since it can run just about anything an Android OS based phone can. However a phone experience is (IMO) much more characteristic and important than being able to say "my phone OS platform has '1-xxxx-thousands' amount of applications" when 90% of them wont even be used let alone be installed on your phone at the same time. Please research up on your material first before making fanboy type comments. This website has a wealth of information and detailed reviews which is quite beneficial to most people in deciding the phone for their type of use. Please don't tarnish this websites credibility by making such childish remarks.
For the price of the Z10 is a bit much, but prices will drop. For the moment. If you are planning on getting a phone, look in the direction of iOS, Android or even WP8. They are solid phones. You don't know what will happen with Blackberry at this stage. Wait for a few Blackberry phones to be built with OS10 and see if they are worth buying then. But for now, you can get a really good Android, iOS or WP8 for the same price or even less.
aj, 01 Apr 2013is z10 much better than android smartphones? No, it is not better than any android, plus it has almost NO apps. Better buy quality android or iPhone - at least you will use them as real smartphones, not just shiny, but pointless toy.
Seriously for those are saying the spec is below the galxy S2, plese review the spec again. The spec is as good as GALAXY S3. The S3 have quad core but the Z10 have 2gb ram. jUST THE APPLICATION IS NOT AS MANY AS ANDROID. YOU SHOULD SAY THE APPS IS BETTER THAN Z10 not apps, you are drunk
It's more what you're used to and how much you've bought into the advertizing propaganda of the competition, but this is actually an excellent option to the iPhone or other smartphones. You lose an opportunity to have this nice phone by listening to too many comments on popular trends, so try it for yourself instead. I really like this device.
