Samsung Windows Laptops Qualcomm Rumors

The Snapdragon X Elite was announced in October and in a few months it will be in the hands of consumers with devices like the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge, which is likely to arrive in June, according to unofficial reports.

This will be a 14” laptop with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. It’s not clear whether there will be versions with different memory configurations, but it is clear that the RAM will be soldered (that is the case for the Intel-powered Book4 laptops too).

The Edge will reportedly cost €1,800 for the 16/512GB configuration. For comparison, a 14” 16/512GB Galaxy Edge4 Pro is €1,900 (this is with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor), while a 13” Apple MacBook Air (M3 chip) is €1,760 with the same memory configuration. Note that we don’t know whether the Edge will be passively cooled like the Air.

The Snapdragon X Elite is fabbed on a 4nm process and features 12 high-performance Oryon cores (developed by Qualcomm, not an ARM design). There is an Adreno GPU with 4.6 TFLOPs of performance and DirectX 12 support, plus a Hexagon NPU offering 45 TOPs.

One advantage of the Snapdragon over the Intel chips is the integrated Snapdragon X65 5G modem with a theoretical peak of 10Gbps downlink. It should be more power efficient too, it remains to be seen how it will compare against the Core Ultras at different performance levels.

Note that the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge might not be the first Snapdragon X Elite-powered device to hit the market – plenty of other makers are working on their own designs, including HP, Lenovo, Asus, Dell, Acer, Honor, Microsoft and Xiaomi. None of them have set a launch date yet, however (to be fair, neither has Samsung – this is just a rumor).

No need to lie. you are clearly running large software and have everything set to max performance if you're getting only 3 hours of battery life on simple browser tasks. I just looked up FOUR different Intel Core i5-1135G7 ThinkPad reviews on No...
