Qualcomm Windows Mobile hardware Rumors

The Snapdragon X Elite is so far the only product in Qualcomm’s new Windows-focused line of chipsets, but that won’t be forever. Details of a Plus model have surfaced, but before we get to those, we have to break down the Elite specs first.

The Snapdragon X Elite name is actually used for three chips. All have 12 CPU cores, 42MB of cache and an NPU that delivers 45 TOPS of performance. However, the CPU and GPU are clocked differently.

Check the table below for more details on the three versions. The Snapdragon X Plus is similar to the lowest of the Elite versions, except that it has 10 CPU cores instead of 12.

Qualcomm has apparently been showing off benchmark comparisons behind the scenes to compare the Elite and Plus chips. It looks like the comparison here is with the top Elite chip, which hits 3.8GHz on all cores and 4.2GHz with two cores active (vs. 3.4GHz and no boost for the Plus).

You can see it in the higher single-thread scores on Geekbench and Cinebench. Multi-threaded scores are much higher for the Elite, of course, given the two extra cores and higher clocks. They are 18% higher in Geekbench MT and an impressive 38% higher in Cinebench MT.

The GPU performance is different too – 4.6 TFLOPs for the top Elite chip and 3.8 TFLOPs for the other two Elites and the Plus. As a result, the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme frame rate falls from around 42fps to around 37fps. All Snapdragon X chips have the same NPU, which delivers 45 TOPS of performance.

Qualcomm has not officially unveiled the Snapdragon X Plus yet and the first products with an X-series chip still exist as rumors only. We’ve heard that Samsung and Lenovo are working on laptops with the new chips. Many other companies are too, of course, it’s just that they have kept the leaks in check.

on the Intel website the base power is 125W and the overclocking or maximum power is 241W. Of course when you benchmark and gaming CPU usage is not always 100%, sometimes 40% 50%... but it still consumes more than this little Snapdragon.
