Doogeee unveils the tiny but tough Smini and the larger N50 Pro

Doogee Android Announcement

Doogee is best known for its rugged phones, most of them are quite large. With the launch of the Doogee Smini the company proves that it can go small too - this is one of the smallest Androids around. And if you think that larger screens are better, there’s also the new Doogee N50 Pro.

Doogee Smini

The Doogee Smini measures 133.0 x 60.0 x 13.5mm and weighs 155g. For comparison, an iPhone 13 mini is 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.7mm and 141g. The Smini is not a slender phone, but that’s because Doogee is a fan of large batteries – the Smini has a 3,000mAh power cell (compared to 2,438mAh in the iPhone). The phone supports 18W charging.

Since we’re talking about size, the phone is built around a 4.5” display with 480 x 1,170px display (an IPS LCD). Notice the second display on the back – this shows the temperature and humidity, time and date, battery level and charging status. Note that this is a old-school 7-segment style display to save on power.

Both the Doogee Smini and the N50 Pro are advertised as phones for outdoor photography. But to photograph the outdoors, first the phone must survive the wilderness. Like its bigger siblings, the Smini is one tough cookie and is rated IP68 (dust and water resistance) and IP69K (resistance against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets), plus it is compliant with the MIL-STD-810H standard, so it can withstand falls too.

The phone is powered by the Helio G99 and runs Android 13 out of the box. The chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM (you can enable up to 7GB virtual RAM too) and 256GB storage, plus you can add a microSD card (up to 2TB, note: this is a dual-SIM phone with a hybrid slot).

The Smini’s photography skills are built around the 50MP main camera and a 2MP macro cam on the back. There is also an 8MP selfie camera on the front.

The phone has a fingerprint reader mounted on the side for security as well as a custom button that can be set to launch the apps you use most often. Small though it may be, the Smini has a 3.5mm headphone jack too.

Doogee N50 Pro

The Doogee N50 Pro is equipped with a larger 6.52” display, this one with HD+ resolution. The larger device also comes with a larger battery, it has 4,200mAh capacity and also supports 18W charging. This phone weighs 187g.

Like the Smini, the N50 Pro has a 50MP rear camera (with a Samsung sensor) and a 2MP macro module, plus an 8MP selfie camera (also with a Samsung sensor).

Also like the mini, the phone launches with Android 13 out of the box. It has 8GB of RAM (here you can enable up to 12GB of virtual RAM) and 256GB storage, which is expandable via microSD cards (up to 1TB).

The Doogee N50 Pro is available in Lavender Purple, Granite Black and Mint Green.

Availability

The Doogee Smini and the N50 Pro will become available on November 11 (a couple of weeks from now). You will find them on Amazon, AliExpress and the company’s own DoogeeMall.

The Doogee Smini is already up on AliExpress, you can pick one up for €275. Pricing for the Doogee N50 Pro will be announced soon.

There's no point in comparing Apples with Androids. Both have separate user base, once in a while some guy shifts his base, otherwise no point comparing. Now, I know Mini Androids are now few and far in between. Still, no cheapskate buyin...

6 inches isn't big, for those with big hands. I don't have big hands so I find 6 inches big
