Apple iOS Rumors

A new rumor backed by MacRumors suggests Apple will include the Action button on all four iPhone 16 series devices. The successor the mute switch was exclusive on this year’s iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models but it seems Apple will now add it to the vanilla iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. The Action button on the iPhone 16 series is also rumored to be capacitive instead of a mechanical switch with force sensor feedback similar to the TouchID sensors on older iPhones and the Force Touch trackpad on MacBooks.

Entire iPhone 16 lineup rumored to feature Action Button

The new Action button on the iPhone 16 series will be joined by a capacitive Capture button located on the right-hand-side below the power button. Apple is said to be experimenting with different sizes for the iPhone 16’s Action button with some designs featuring larger buttons than the one on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. MacRumors also shares that the next generation iPhone SE which is rumored to launch in 2025 will also feature the Action button.

Is it a another button like the power buttons and volume buttons? No. Is it an evolution of the mute switch it replaces? No. Is it a rip off of Sony camera button despite not being a camera button? Yes.

I thought Apple said they are developing under display and it is on track to be implemented in the 16 Pro models.
