Facebook Messenger hits 1 billion monthly users

Android Mobile software iOS Online services Facebook

Back in February, Facebook-owned WhatsApp announced that it has more than one billion users who are active each month. That was the second Facebook property to reach that milestone, after the social network itself of course.

And today a third member of the Facebook empire can boast the exact same accomplishment. We're talking about Messenger, which is now part of the 1 billion users club too.

To celebrate, Messenger now has a new floating balloon gift for you to enjoy. All you need to do is send a balloon emoji to any of your friends, and the animation should automatically appear. It's unclear how long this will last - we assume you won't find floating balloons in the app tomorrow.
