Some 7 year olds got a couple of fine dollars every week for helping mining recourses for your Apple device, or whatever other brand you might come up with. Fairphone's devices don't contain such materials. Besides of that, they want you to hold longer onto your device instead of renewing it every year. Fixing things can be done easily with the modular design, instead of replacing the phone. Upgrading internals is going to be an option too. I think you missed the whole point of this company but ok.

Two things prevents me from buying this:
- CPU/SOC is way underpowered
- Rear fingerprint sensor: with those huge bezels, why it's not on the front?

It's not (much) about the pollution of the fabrication of the device. But it's about beging durable, by having easily replaceable en even upgradeable parts so people last longer with their device and don't buy phones that often.
