Smart wearables

Fitbit announced today that it will end its support for Pebble smartwatch ecosystem in June this year - June 30 to be specific. That's a six months extension, the company says, compared to the previously committed end-of-2017 time frame.

While Pebble devices and mobile apps will continue working after June 30, several services will be retired, including Pebble appstore, Pebble forum, voice recognition features, SMS and email replies with iOS, timeline pins from third-party apps, and the CloudPebble development tool.

"There will be no further updates to Pebble’s mobile apps for iOS and Android," the company said. "The latest versions of both Pebble apps remain compatible with current versions of iOS (iOS 11) and Android (8.1 Oreo). Users should note that it’s possible for future iOS or Android updates to break Pebble compatibility."

I had my pebble for over a year now it worked fine with Sony, Wiley fox, lenovo and xiaomi phones. As long as I get notifications and step count I will be OK. Not sure what to do if I change phones or have to factory reset my phone.

Can they also talk about "starting" support as well in addition to "ending" support announcements? Still not supporting Google Pixel 2 devices which happen to be flagships even though not popular is quite disappointing.
