LG Touch UI Rumors

LG keep expanding their portfolio of entry-level and midrange handsets, which played a key role in making them the third largest manufacturer worldwide. Now the company unveiled no less than 5 yet unannounced phones at a press event held in Amstelveen, Netherlands.

LG KS365 is a successor to the highly popular LG KS360 and comes with a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. It refreshes the design of its predecessor but puts little new functionality on the table. The 2.4" touchscreen is retained and so are the 2 megapixel camera and the stereo FM radio.

Next comes the LG GT405 - a phone for multimedia lovers on a tighter budget. It comes with a 3" touchscreen and packs the company proprietary S-Class UI. The 5 megapixel camera and the 3G with HSDPA support might make the LG GT405 the best-spec'd phone of the bunch revealed today.

The LG GT400 Viewty Smile makes its second public appearance after the leak last week. Its functionality is virtually identical to the one of the GT405 but its unassuming design suggests an even lower price tag.

The 2008-turned-2010 leak roster concludes with LG Pure and Jacquar 5. The first one is a very sleek mid-range slider. The notable features are its 5 megapixel camera and 3G connectivity with HSDPA support. It reminds us of the unimpressive BL20 New Chocolate and most probably will use the same UI. If the body turns out to be all-metal as it looks in the picture, that would be very nice.

Finally, the LG Jacquar 5 is a cheap, but good looking low-end candy bar. It has a VGA camera, MP3 player and a microSD card slot.

As there is no official announcement, no additional information on pricing or availability is available.

Update (March 11): We just spotted another one from the press event - the LG Cookie Music. The Cookie Music will be the flagship of the Cookie lineup, boasting Dolby mobile technology, 4GB built-in memory (expandable up to 32GB) and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The LG Cookie Plus spec sheet also lists a 3" WQVGA touchscreen, a 5MP camera (the Cookie standard is 3.2MP), 3G connectivity with HSDPA and social networking integration (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter). The interface is said to a much improved S-Class UI compared to the LG BL40 New Chocolate.

The LG Cookie Plus is expected to hit stores around May.
