G Suite gets rebranded to Google Workspace with new icons in tow, including for Gmail

Google Online services

To say that Google as a company loves to rebrand its services would be a massive understatement. And today, it's done it again. The bundle of services previously known as G Suite is now called Google Workspace.

This includes the same services as before, although with the new overall branding come new icons for the individual parts of Workspace, including Gmail, in what is the biggest change to its iconography since its inception. Gone is the envelope, while the M has stayed but isn't all red anymore, now incorporating all the Google colors.

The same logic applies to the other icons as well, which all have the Google colors in them in some assortment - whether we're talking about Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, or others.

The brand identity is consistent between services now, and there's also a new, integrated user experience to go with it, for paying customers. Consumers will get this "soon".

Once you have access to the new workflow, you'll be able to create and collaborate on a document with guests in a chat room, share content, work together with people outside your organization, and much more - all from one place. Chat, email, voice and video calling, as well as content management and collaboration are all part of the Workspace home.

In Docs, Sheets, and Slides, you can now preview a linked file without having to open a new tab, and when you @mention someone in your document, a smart chip will show contact details for that person, provide context, and suggest actions like adding them to your Contacts or reaching out via chat, email, or video.

Meet picture-in-picture video calls are coming to Docs, Sheets, and Slides, following the rollout to Gmail and Chat.

Google can't do anything right except search engines, email and maps navigation. The rest of their apps/ services/ hardware is worthless
