Google has revealed that its email service Gmail now has over a billion monthly active users. The revelation was made by the Mountain View, California-based company's CEO Sundar Pichai while announcing last quarter's earnings.
At the company’s annual I/O developers conference in May last year, Pichai - who was Google’s senior vice president of products then - had revealed 900 million monthly active users figure for Gmail. This means that the service gained 100 million users in the past 7 months.
Other Google services/apps that have already crossed the 1 billion active users mark include Search, Android, Google Play, Chrome, Maps, and YouTube.
During the earnings call, Pichai also revealed that Gmail's Smart Reply feature, which suggests responses based on the emails you get, is used in 10% of all replies made through the service's mobile app.
Active users as in those who are forced to have a Gmail account to be able to use an Android phone and download apps. lol. I bet more than half of these so called active users don't even open their email accounts. lol.
