IFA 2017 Google Google Assistant

Update: Sony has announced a new wireless speaker that features Google Assistant. Dubbed LF-S50G, the device will be available for purchase sometime in the month of October. It'll set you back $200.

Original story follows:

Google is also at IFA 2017 and is announcing an updated presence of its Google Assistant. The voice service is arriving at speakers, washing machines, dryers, and vacuums. First devices and appliances are going to come “later this year” so you can finally say “Ok Google, wash my clothes.”

Google Assistant is very useful for asking questions, keeping schedules and controlling your smart home. The AI voice service is already available on Google Home but is also arriving at Zolo Mojo by Anker, Mobvoi’s TicHome Mini and the GA10 by Panasonic. The list should get longer as Google announces more devices along the week.

LG is going to be the first home appliance manufacturer that is going to introduce washers, dryers, and vacuums that can be controlled from a device with the Assistant, be it a smartphone or a speaker. Commands like “Ok Google, start vacuuming” and “Ok Google, are my clothes clean?” should become a routine if you are ready for a Jetsons-like reality.

Google also reminded that the Assistant already works fine and dandy with home automation makers like Honeywell, Netatmo, TP-Link, and Wemo. With them, you can set the sprinkler, turn on the slow cooker or dim the lights, because the future is now.

It's weird that Google home doesn't have a clock on display now that I think about it.
