I bought this phone in late 2020. It stopped working in by end of year and was replaced. It stopped working again in July. Now google wants over $200 to replace it. What a disappointment of a phone. The pixel camera is raved about but compared to other phones perhaps slightly more expensive its a dog with flees. I recommend buying a 'decent' phone.

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2021Pixel 4a or Oneplus 8?Really it depends what you need, the OnePlus has a lot better chipset and bigger battery and 90 hz. screen if you care about these performance components and the 4a has a better camera and the Google software if you like that

People who h... moreI think the 4a will last performance wise for normal use and battery wise as well since they have the features that help with long term battery health. The absence of a wide angle isn't that bad for some, but others need it I guess. The phone does heat up pretty easily and I have not tried downloading custom stuff on it yet.

Is it still Worth it to buy the 4a? I hope to use the phone for at least 3 years. People who have bought the 4a do you think it will last that long (I mean performance and battery wise). Also Is it durable as in would it break from small falls or just a normal toss on the bed? (or if it falls from your Carboard VR(totally did not happen to me)).
Also is not having a Wide Angled Camera made in difference? Some people are saying that it heats ups while taking photos in the Camera App Does this happen to everybody? Does it Heat while Charging? Basically did you find it heating up very easily while doing normal things? I don't intend to game on the 4a but do you think it will heat up if I were to test VR and AR apps on it? Has anybody tried rooting and installing other custom ROM on it?

To the people who own this phone, do you think the 60hz refresh rate is a bit of a cap if you plan on keeping it for the next 2-3 years? Or do you believe that the refresh rate is just fine and you really don't care?

Check if theres a earphone icon on your status bar to be sure. If not, please ignore this. Haha im just trying to help

Having no luck getting my phones microphone problem fixed, taking forever, Google help line is worthless. My wife is so unhappy she got this phone for me, unable to get it warrantied. Have to be on speaker for callers to hear me, then works ok for a few days, then quits again.

Auto-HDR is a big disappointment for me. Didn't know absolut it before I got it. Coming from 3a I had some expactations. The built quality feels worse, I had more hope regarding the battery. All in all it is a bit meh...

Bought the Pixel 4a last week after a lot of research. While Chinese phones seem attractive with better paper specs and cheaper price - for me the choice was between Samsung (A51) and Pixel 4a finally.
Glad that I chose the Pixel. Awesome screen (441 PPI), fantastic software experience - it is so smooth and intelligent that it is borderline scary :) and of course an awesome camera without the various circles at the back, as with the other phones...just one camera with really helpful software (live exposure and shadow control)
Was worried about the battery, but seems good so far for our normal use...comes to 1+ days easily with one SIM. The optimization algorithms are good as heard on the reviews.
All in all, with the recent reduction in price for the 4a in India, this is a great bet for normal phone users...might not be for hardcore gamers though. We are very happy with the purchase!
