I still use my P5, which I bought second hand a few years ago.
I got a new battery put in about 18 months ago and I never have battery worries; it comfortably lasts the full day with the occasional top up needed.
It is very snappy, though occasionally it does take just a tad to run a google maps search, or to open a browser tab, or the occasional stutter navigating some apps. If not gaming or using extremely demanding apps this can do for another while.
I've been waiting for another compact mid range but nothing ticks all the boxes.
Alas, the main problem is that it is no longer getting security updates so, at least for me, it's time to change.

What common problems do google pixel 5 phones have? Because am nearly buying one
oddiofile, 18 Jun 2025Before the 5, older pixels had an "a" version which was smaller than the regular one... moreNo, the "a" meant it was budget phone means with slower CPU and mostly made out of plastic
unnamed., 18 Jun 2025it is no longer the case since pixel 4I am getting unlimited storage
Bought one as a budget replacement for my S10e after screen damage rendered the latter unstable. I don't think I'd recommend it. No addable storage, apps are very buggy on this compared to Samsung, no wired headphone port. But cheap and 5G capable and the camera is probably marginally better than the S10e. I'm someone who doesn't ever get something top of the line but hopefully I have a bit more disposable income to put towards an actually good phone next time. Don't think I'd return to Google though.
Really wish Google brought this form-factor (and its light weight) back in future Pixels. With an equally good (or better) battery life and, crucially, without "AI" bloatware. Where all the newer Pixels (and iPhones) are headed lately, I am not buying new phones any time soon.
Anonymous, 18 Jun 2025Just went back to 5 from 8. Missed 5 so much that I bought brand new one a few days ago. Sweet... moreI agree its slim, light weight and the right screen size. I love it.

Before the 5, older pixels had an "a" version which was smaller than the regular one.
The Pixel 5 however, is smaller than the Pixel 5a.
It is like the "a" no longer means what it did.

Just bought this phone (used) for backup phone. It's a cute smooth little phone but I'm having one problem and it seems like it's a very common problem with Pixels. The proximity sensor isn't working properly. One day it works and many other days it doesn't. It's like most of the time it isn't working. Anyone has a solution for this problem ? BTW, the phone is on LineageOS and has Android 15, updated to latest version.
