Gurman: Apple to launch an event-planning service called Confetti

Apple iOS

Apple will introduce a new iCloud service designed for managing events and invitations. This service will differ from Calendar and is set to launch “this coming week," as reported by Mark Gurman in his latest weekly podcast "On Demand" for Bloomberg.

The service is reportedly codenamed called "Confetti" and will be a "new way to invite people to parties, functions, and meetings."

Apple releases iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 with Apple Intelligence tweaks

The arrival of the service is tied to the iOS 18.3 launch, which started rolling out last week, in the final days of January. The new invites service was already spotted in the OS beta code, and it seems like there will be integrated within the iCloud app, and will have a web version on iCloud.com.

The role of the app is to invite people to events, and the user will be able to see who RSVP'd. It might have a "more fun interface" than the Calendar app, which already has the basic function of inviting someone to an event.

All other reports say Confetti is simply a calendar invite app probably with more focus on events (as opposed to meetings and birthdays).

I'm sure that you'll only be allowed to invite iOS users to events, because who would possibly want to hang out with dirty green bubbles? It's for your own protection.
