Here's what iOS 18's rumored visionOS-like redesign might look like

Apple iOS Rumors

iOS 18 will be announced by Apple on June 10 on the first day of its Worldwide Developers Conference. The next iteration of its mobile OS could see the most significant design changes in years - multiple recent rumors claimed there will be a lot of design inspiration from visionOS, the software that runs on Apple's Vision Pro headset.

Today we get a first glimpse of what that may look like on iOS 18, with the leak of an alleged design resource for the mobile OS. The iPhone frame template you can see below was sent to MacRumors by an anonymous source claiming to have obtained it from an iOS engineer. This being all anonymous and such, do take it with a grain of salt.

This will reportedly be included as part of Apple's Design Resources for iOS 18, which help developers visually design apps using software like Sketch and Photoshop. It is of course fully unclear at this point if this is real or not, but the design here does align with the aforementioned previous rumors claiming iOS 18 will see a visionOS-inspired visual overhaul.

Then again, the usually on point Mark Gurman over at Bloomberg thinks there won't be a full overhaul of the iOS design coming this year, so the visionOS-inspired elements may not permeate throughout the entirety of the UI.

visionOS has a lot of translucency built-in, and glass-like buttons with reflective edges. Every time we look at it we can't help but be reminded of Microsoft's Windows Aero design, which made its debut in Windows Vista. Of course, that was a long time ago, so these are not identical, more like distant relatives? What do you think? Would you like iOS to be more like visionOS? Let us know in the comments.

Yes!! I thought I was the only one who missed the Skeumorphic design. I loved those little 3D icons. They looked pretty good even back in the day with that ancient hardware. Imagine how good they'd look today with the powerful cpu+gpu combo...

Yes, of course! I will be very, very happy to see a visual overhaul of the OS. The more often, the better! I'm pretty sick of the same visuals every next year. iOS need to be a lot more customizable. More like Android. There is a lot to be desir...
