dude, an awesome phone tbh. one of the best that u get from honor. i think i have it since 2019 maybe ..earlier 2019. and this phone is something i love. it fell so much and so hard and still it works and i've almost cracked the glass back but i need it again...this phone is so stubborn as if to say.. why doesn't it stop working???? but that's the best part..honor 9 lite is an amazing and lost lasting invention tbh. also they didn't mention the feature but it did got a gorilla screen as it's genuine panel.

Wendee , 11 Oct 2023Why is it that once you set a data SIM, the other SIM automatically change to 2G.
That's... more"Why is it that once you set a data SIM, the other SIM automatically change to 2G.
That's so bad"
That's not a fault with your phone. It's what the 9 Lite does - very weird. So, for example, if you have a SIM for work with its own paid data plan and you have your own personal SIM with your own data use, you can't just switch between them easily so that you're paying for your own data and your employer is paying for work data use. You can swap the two SIMS around physically to do that, but it's so fiddly - little tiny SIMS in a tiny tray which is hard to manipulate - that nobody is going to do that for long.
It's the one major fault with this phone. If you need to switch quickly between two SIMS, both for data, this is not the phone for you.
I have had the Honor 9 Lite since late 2018, only now beginning to make myself move onto a new phone. Honestly I have thousands (literally, and rather than mere hundreds) of browser tabs open and have had for a long time and the phone goes on & on. (I'm a neurological sufferer & this approach to tabs is from my conditions).
I paid £120 new and I doubt any phone 7 times that price would have outperformed it during my years of use.
I never updated the Android version (in case I lost my browser tabs) and only now in mid 2024 I'm losing some apps as of the outdated OS. (BT Email for example). Anyone else could update Android and retain the working apps though.
This phone will easily be fine for a lot of people in a new version (they exist in Ebay from time to time, though I think more expensive than the original price), though I am not sure what the situation is re security updates. I'm guessing (which just means guessing - not sure) basically it wouldn't matter to me because I don't use online banking nor mobile wallets
I think encrypted https (s for secure) pages when entering card details seem to be secure. (According to Edward Snowden I believe.)
***HOWEVER - I'm really adding this opinion to help people this way. The 9 Lite has 4G for DATA ONLY.. The 9 Lite CANNOT MAKE 4G CALLS. For some reason Huawei decided to make the 4G tech only available for data on the 9 Lite, not voice calls.
Given that 3G is disappearing everywhere (gone totally already for me on my network in the UK), if your phone doesn't have 4G calling then you'll be stuck making 2G voice calls. I've been learning that the reception for 2G everywhere can be patchy and calls can cut in and out pretty often, in areas where there had been perfect reception taken for granted.
Therefore this is a warning about the 9 Lite and any older phone which doesn't have 4G for calls. (Unfortunately it's very hard to find out which older phones which have 4G tech restrict it to data use only.)
Other than this annoying problem, the 9 Lite is a really great phone. Far from as premium as the last great phone I loved, the Sony Xperia X1, but performance-wise and utility-wise the X1 is left far, far behind the 9 Lite.
Thank you Huawei / Honor.
