Honor Android Firmware Updates

As expected, the launch of the Honor Magic V also brought the new version of the company’s custom interface, which is based on Android 12. Magic UI 6.0 will be rolled out to some existing devices, starting with the Magic3, Magic3 Pro and Pro+, which will get it in the first quarter of this year.

Next, the April-June quarter will see the Honor 50, 50 Pro, Honor 60 and 60 Pro get updated. The 50 SE will have to wait until Q3 (no word on the 50 Lite yet). The Honor V40 duo, the Honor Tablet V7 and V7 Pro, along with the X30, X30i and X20 are also scheduled to be updated in the third quarter. The official rollout roadmap is below:

Magic UI 6.0 brings several enhancements to multitasking and cross-device features. Magic Live is a digital assistant platform that uses location, profiles and AI to learn your habits and offer tailored recommendations and reminders (e.g. the check-in time for your flight). For enhanced privacy, version 6.0 tries to do as much as possible on the device. The system will also recommend the best settings for popular apps.

Then there’s Multi-Windows, which allows you to divide the display between a couple of apps. Magic Live will automatically detect content and recommend that you turn on Multi-Window when it is appropriate.

Honor Sharing supports display, keyboard and mouse sharing. It can also easily transfer files between your phone and Windows PC using Honor Connect, which offers a high speed (1.2 Gbps), low-latency (10 ms) connection.

Additionally, Honor also supports Microsoft’s Your Phone app (in China at least). There is also Yoyo, which handles the distribution of notifications between your various devices – from your phone, through your smartwatch to your headphones.

Magic UI 6.0 also brings several “Turbo” enhancements, e.g. Link Turbo X promises to reestablish connectivity faster than Magic UI 5.0 in areas with spotty connections. GPU Turbo X will up gaming performance slightly – e.g. tests with the Honor Magic3 saw average frame rate go from 52.2 fps up to to 55 fps. The new OS Turbo X manages to keep around 20% more apps in RAM than with version 5.0.

On paper they sold it, but look at the people running it. Usually when a company is sold/bought by another entity, everyone who previously ran the company are replaced, just look at Twitter when Elon Musk bought it. Look at the people who are running...

Not surpising, all the people running honor before huawei sold it are the same people who ran it when it was still with huawei. Go figure.
