Honor Huawei Smart wearables Rumors

Honor has really been working overtime these past few months. The affordable Honor 8C and Honor 8X are already making great strides in India. All the while, the company's lineup has been selling like crazy during the various shopping holiday frenzies. Plus, devices like the Honor Magic 2 and eagerly-anticipated Honor View 20 are starting to carve out a nice reputation for the brand in the higher market and innovation segments as well.

Much of this sheer product "volume" is inevitable at least somewhat related to corporate ties with parent Huawei and definitely not limited to handsets. Honor only recently unveiled its Watch Magic - a more or less slightly downgraded twin to the Huawei Watch GT. Now, a new Honor watch is already on the horizon, as evidenced by a Bluetooth SIG certification.

Unfortunately, the public document doesn't really offer many hardware details on the mystery gadget, going by the "ELF-G10" model number. It does, however, explicitly refer to it as a "smart watch", as opposed to a different style of wearable, like the Honor Band 4. Still, the smart bit is obviously present, hence the Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy standard support the document is meant to certify.

Another interesting bit of information on the watch is that it will apparently be based on a MediaTek platform. While definitely not unheard of, this is a far less common choice of chipset, compared to Qualcomm's wearable solutions, which currently have a lion's share of the market. That being said, Huawei and consequently Honor have been experimenting on both the hardware and software fronts with their recent wearables. The Watch GT, for instance, uses a innovative dual-chipset design, with a custom ultra low-power chip running most of the basic functions of the watch and a more powerful package only kicking in when needed. On the software side, the two companies now have their own LiteOS operating system for watches. Perhaps Honor is looking to optimise battery even further with another experimental platform design in this new wearable.

This is cool. MediaTek has the upper-hand when it comes to AI..so it only makes sense that Honor would go with MediaTek for their smart watches

Mediatek has been backing up chipsets which would power device other than mobile devices and phones! Awesome job diversifying into different technologies!
