Honor pushes MagicOS 9.0 update to over a dozen smartphones

Honor introduced MagicOS 9.0 in October 2024, promising AI features for over 30 devices. Now 15 different models are already running another update called New Year Edition, which just started shipping to devices in China.

The global push for updates is yet to be determined, but by examining the models receiving the new UI at home, we can identify which global units will also get the interface.

Here is the full list of devices, getting the new release:

Since the Spring Festival is happening in two weeks (better known as Chinese New Year), the update brings some themed features, like camera filters and system themes.

On the functional side, there is a working facial recognition in parallel apps, the display has been optimized when being used in moving vehicles to prevent motion sickness, and the telephoto camera of the Magic6 phones was optimized.

We are yet to hear details on Honor's plans for the global rollout of MagicOS 9.0, which was kickstarted yesterday with the international launch of the Magic7 series.
